Hello.
I have a Beretta 92 and a friend of mine is offering a Beretta 96 slide complete with 40SW barrel and spring.
And before I buy it, I want to know:
Is it legal to install a slide that did not come with the pistol?
If, yes.
Is it legal to install a slide with a different caliber?

Thanks.

Yes it legal. As long as they fit you are golden. Think about it, they make 22lr kit for just about every gun. It does not matter if you go up in caliber or down as long as the frame is the same.

That would be completely legal.

Hovewer, I've read that 96 slide on 92 frame has potential to have feeding problems due to the shape of the ramp. 92 slide on 96 frame is considered to be OK. Check with beretta forum, I know there were few threads there on the subject.

Most 40SW parts are interchangeable with 357Sig parts, but you may have trouble putting a 40SW "upper" on a 9mm "lower".

How about the ejector? Isn't it in a different place, or a different shape, for 9mm vs .40S&W?
