View Full Version : Question on my old mini-14 20 rounds magazines

I have some ruger mini-14 20 rounds magazines. Bought with gun some 15 years ago. Just taking it out of safe.

Since that's illegal to install on a rifle. Does it mean all those magazines are now junk ?

I'm not sure why you think that?

Shoot and be happy.

OP, the ban came in 2000. If you own the mags before that, you can still use them on your mini as long as the rifle is featureless (no pistol grip, collapsible stock, forward grip, flash hider, pro Palin stickers);)

You can also order complete mag kits for repair, etc. However those have to come in as broken down sets (parts kit). Bear in mind that it is illegal to build a new (>10 rds) magazine in this state. It is one for one. So if you only have 1 20 round mag, that needs parts replacement, you can only replace or repair one.

Also, no receipts are necessary to proof to LEO that you own the mags prior to ban. The burden of proof is on them.

My brain must not be functioning. I can shoot hicap mags in mini14, but also in a Featureless AR ? Sorry. Still a bit lost

If you had the mags you could shoot them in an AR as long as it didn't have any evil features.

If you have a Mini with evil features, then the answer will be different. You probably don't.

Please check out the flowchart.
