I can't tell, yet If I like the .45 I only own five of them. A Blue Colt Government, A Stainless Government, a Stainless Gold Cup, a Stainless Combat Commander and a S&W 4516. Just kidding with the first sentence.
I have owned and shot .45's for over forty years. If I could have only one pistol, it would be a 1911. I will never be without one. The only times I've ever had jams, have been stovepipes, when using cheap range reloads.
I also have two .45 Colt revolvers. A stainless Ruger Vaquero and a Uberti Schofield repro.:D

How is the vaquero? I want one in 357, are they smooth as butter and shoot like a dream? Also do you know the difference between the vaquero and the... (can't remember the name) other ruger single action in 357/45

@ BBwizard:
Blackhawk...the original SA Ruger in .357
Super Blackhawk...beefed up larger framed Blackhawk (with adjustable sights) for the .44 Mag
Vaquero...SBH with fixed sights, up to an including .44 Mag.
New Vaquero....357 / .45LC smaller frame, the same size as the Colt SAA. No .44 mag for this one die to the smaller cylinder and thinner chamber walls.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Since the .44 Mag is really only a .430; .45 is the true "big guy" at .451".
I also find an attraction for the .45s.

Wingedsword now needs a Thompson in .45ACP to round things out a little and get a long gun into the mix.
And then a lever action carbine in .45LC.
And then a rolling block rifle in 45-70.

See how easy it is?
You can have a nice collection and still stick to just one bore diameter.
Especially if it is .45!

:) I have owned a Thompson in the past. Did not like the idea of a very heavy long barreled pistol. I am something of a purist. The .45LC was never chambered in a lever action rifle, in the old west. Therefore my lever gun is a .44-40. As for a .45-70 I want to get an 1886 Winchester Repro and a Trapdoor officer's rifle.

The poster says he doesn't know if he likes .45s. I know that I do like them. There is something appealing about that big 230 grain bullet and the "boom" when it goes off. I got my first .45 about 45 years ago, and have quite a few of them today. My favorite brands are Colt, Sig, Kimber and H&K in that caliber.

I agree 100%. I just cannot decide... Oh wait, all of my pistols are .45 ACP (except for the little .380 1911 style Colt Nitelite [Mustang]). They only made 200 of those, it cannot leave the stable...LOL.

As I read somewhere on these forums, that 1911's are like crack. I forget the punchline, but I've got the jones 'fer sure. And I'm just now beginning to appreciate the finer models...

Even though not all are of mine are 1911's, they'll always be 45's.

Someone please pass the 1911 glass deek...I need another hit.
