I'm ready to splurge on some Troy BUIS Tritium sights for my build. I know, it's mostly personal preference regarding what you like. Tell me what combo you're running and why you like it? It'll help me make my decision.

I'm putting them on a 18" 6.8SPC.

HK Front/Battlesight Rear

I have the M4 front and Di-Optic rear.

People that get the HK front sight end up removing it and getting the M4 style instead because the HK circle section doesn't line up with the standard rear aperture. They said if the rear sight had a height adjustment then it would've been OK.

I have the regular M4 ones, front and rear.

Someone brought up the fact that if you are using a red-dot optic the tridium would added another bright colored dot to your FOV. Of course if you have the sight folded its not a problem and I'm gonna guess you are gonna put some glass on top instead of a red-dot.

Also, when I spoke with the owner of ar-15tactical.com he told me the diamond rear is the shiznit. haha

So far, these tidbits of insight are great. I was wondering about the HK Front / M4 Rear and whether it was going to weird with the "circle within circle". If, with that combo, they don't line it, that's bad. Wouldn't Troy have considered that issue?

I like the M4 Front / DOA Rear combo.

I thought about the Tritium Front constantly glowing on my Red Dot, but like you mentioned, it would be flipped down. And, yes, I plan to put a Burris Timberline glass on the 6.8 with a QD base.

Might also wanna ask how the tridium works in bright california sun.

HK front and DOA rear. I don't notice the different between the HK and M4 as much as the standard battle sight vs. the DOA. The DOA being a diamond makes it so much easier to center the front sight post.

What's the advantages of the HK Front vs. M4 Front? When I see the M4 Front sight it gives me the impression that I can use the blades like mil-dots when leading a target. The HK just seems like a hooded sight but there appears to be more spacing vs. the narrowing of the wings of the M4.

My exact reasoning. The M4 style was too restrictive. I've got the HK front with tritium battle rear.
I've never had any sort of issue, what so ever, with the sights lining up appropirately. The sight isn't so much a circle over a circle, but more of a circle inside a circle.
As for the tritium in the bright CA sun, what tritium? lol
It tends to disappear and is barely visible. It's almost non-existant when co-witnessing. So don't worry. It's not gonna feel like you're trying to look through a Christmas tree.
The tritium, at least for me, is more of an orienting type thing. Focus rear, focus front, focus target. Send.

M4 front and DOA rear.

I love the DOA rear, but I'm waiting for the new Rapid Adjustment front sight.

In my experience, HK works great with the dual-aperture rear, at least with rifle-length rails. I am able to use front/rear concentricity as an extra input, which is a plus over the "V".

Does anyone know whether Troy sells tritium parts for retrofit on the plain sights and/or would do the retrofit themselves for a reasonable price?

They got 'em:
