Rhino:

I just bought an XDm 3.8 in OD green/stainless at my local Cabela's (here in AZ)

I love this gun! It was a toss-up between the Gen IV G19 and this. I opted for the XDm 3.8 for a few reasons:

- 19 round capacity out of the box
- Better grip ergos for MY hand
- I seem to shoot more accurately with the XDm's
- Accessory kit is excellent
- Trigger reset is very good
- Recoil is very soft
- I like the idea of having an extra added element of safety (grip safety) and two chambered round indicators
- Excellent balance vs the full size XDm's

Now for the cons:
- Concealability is questionable due to length of grip
- Not many holster choices, yet (there is a holster with the kit)
- A bit bulkier vs the Glocks and other black guns

I would recommend shooting one at your local range to see if it feels right in your hands.

Good luck!

not too many of them exist here in CA. i am assuming you know that regular CA residents are not allowed to buy them new?

^That (2 weeks) is a joke around here in CGN

Back on topic, XDM 3.8 9mm, at least in my limited experience, was not that improved over regular XD9. Slide is esier to grab and grip was better, but that was about it.

I've shot a few XDM guns, both 4.5 and 3.8 models (mostly 9mm and .45). The only thing that I've felt that I didn't really like on the gun was the trigger. But that really varied on how many rounds has been put through the gun, or just the luck of the draw on a particular batch from Springfield. Some triggers felt smooth, some felt pretty rough and almost like a grinding feel.

Otherwise, awesome gun.
