You guys think the new R1 1911 will ever be on the list?

No, it doesn't have the required "safety" features.

No, unless the roster dies. To be on the roster it needs a magazine disconnect safety and a loaded chamber indicator.

Think there are many threads that already answered this question.

Only two more weeks until the roster comes down :D

Great. I needed another reminder of how much I want an R1.

Does that mean we can own a Sig Blackwater Tactical?

I'm going to have to search harder about a dead roster and need to update myself.

No to be a buzz kill, but how many times have we herd "the Roster is going to die in two weeks".... I've been hearing it for months now.

so so sad

That's true, we all been waiting on the OLL thingy and nothing happens. I guess California learn it's lesson by having the first AWB.

You do know the story behind the "two weeks" thing right?

A few gunsmiths have mentioned that this gun is worse than a Norinco, without even factoring in price.

Ah yes, the famous "a few gunsmiths" strike again.

What got me to loose interest in them is the fact that their frame is cast steel if I'm not mistaken. Springfield offers less expensive models in forged steel frame as what 1911s were originally built like. But I guess it is one of the cheapest 1911 one can go for that is made in USA.

They list for 699 and go for 625. Overall, it's the name that sells it best. Most Remington dudes, like myself, would like to have one next to our 700s.

I felt the slide; and it's pretty smooth, yet can't say anything about the longevity but the quality is good.
I'm going to get my hands on an R1 next week. Hopefully it's not a disappointment.

The frame is cast.

After a detail strip, Joe Chambers said they were terrible and had visible cast marks, horrible tolerances, bad feed ramps etc. He used to work under Bob Marvel and now has his own shop.

John Harrison field stripped one and said it didn't make him want to build a gun on it any more than a Springfield GI.

It's gonna run $700+

That is what they say about AK47s but yet they shoot well and perform flawlessly. I don't think remington intend to make this 1911 a masterpiece. None of their guns are high dollar guns, but yet their work have proven great reliability and performance.

I saw one at proforce a few days ago for $579. I'd get one at that price but I am not into 1911

Yep
If I were gonna buy it I'd have to spend more $$ getting it tricked out the way I like. So yeah, a Remington in the 1911 stable would be nice but there are other 1911's already configured the way I like for around the same price point
