I studied, read, listened, then looked high and low and saved and scrimped to be able to own one.

Arrived this afternoon and for 32 years old it's in better condition than I even hoped for!

Guess one is never too old to get excited about a Colt, huh? :o

Here's a quick pic:

Gorgeous. Love those GCNM's. I've let one get away from me already, and I hope to get a second one sometime again.

Dude! Whatever you do -- don't mess with it -- I took my first 1978 Gold Cup and had Jim Hoag make it into a long slide -- it took almost two years -- when I got it back I was so mad I traded it away --

Then about seven years ago, my best friend christmased me with -- a 1978 Gold Cup! What did I do?

You guessed it:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p54/Fasanoland/handguns/Hoag2.jpg

took it to JIm Hoag and had him make me ANOTHER longslide (are we just freaking crazy?)

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p54/Fasanoland/handguns/hoag-longslide.jpg

Which took way less time and of course I traded it away!
Damn it shot great, But so did the original Gold Cups!

Keep it secret -- keep it safe -- keep it legit!

I have one too :43: congratulations on your purchase!

Welcome to club mines a 74 I believe. It was unfired. 50 rounds through so far. Why keep it in the safe anyways? I'm gonna die some day and I don't want it sold for 400 bucks and in pristine condition because my people don't know what it's worth.

Did you write about it in a magazine? I read an article awhile back about a very similar story as yours. I already recycled the mag.

Yes, actually, shame on me. I just can't keep a few guns and be happy. Everything goes on the sell/trade block. Maybe the crappy economy will stop me and these damn guns.

That's funny, because I've got a Hoag long slide blue over hard chrome with Armand Swenson stainless steel extended slide stop & safety. I would never sell nor trade mine. Mine's done on a very early '70 series colt and was done along in late '70's or very early '80's. If you sell another one, let me know.
