I have an Bushmaster XM-15 upper and would like to remove the fixed sight and replace with a folding. I tried to remove the muzzle brake, but before I start getting more aggressive with it to try to come off, is it welded on or can I get it off? and how?

If it's the same upper I'm thinking about (14.5''), the muzzle brake is permanently pinned. In short, you need to do some cutting to get the brake off which will destroy it.
Here is a tutorial on how to remove it. (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782) Scroll down to about 80% of the page.
You will also need to permanently attach a new muzzle device to have a legal overall length.
Who/Where can I go to get it done? Randall (ar15barrels)
How much will it cost? $45-55 depending on what muzzle device you are going to attach.
I had the same upper and wanted to change the sight and muzzle, but I ended up selling it.

Thanks, that's not the answer that I wanted to hear. I guess I'll have to decide what to do next.
