As of late, I have really been torn between my iphone 3G and Nexus one.

A week ago, I sold my nexus one and made some money on it but found myself missing my nexus.

Well, today I purchased another Nexus One and I am officially going to ditch the ***** (iphone).

Now, that may not seem much of a big deal, but Job's is now really pissing me off with his holyier than thou attitude and the Apple fan boys can SUCK IT.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/01/jobs-suggests-that-competitors-device-activation-tallies-may-be/

This was the last straw for me. First it was the iphone 4 and the antenna issue, then it was the whole childish "but look at these phones, they do it too... waaaaa"

Now, Jobs can't own up to the fact that Android is PWNING his *** up and down, left and right.

So, off the Apple wagon I go and on to better things.

I was playing with my brother in laws Droid X and from what little I played with it I really liked it! Just a tad big but I could get over it, I think after this contract with AT&T is up I am going back to Verizon. I am kinda with you about the Apple fan boys though.

:iagree:
When the MacBook and MacBook Pro first came out, there were three models of Macbook: The small white one, the big white one, and the big black one, in order of increasing price. The big black one (the most expensive model) cost $200 more than the big white one. Here is the list of extra features in the big black one that those $200 bought you:

An extra 20 gigabytes of hard drive space.
The color black.

At that time, I could buy a 20GB hard drive for about $30, and a 40GB drive for about $40, making the market price of 20GB about $10.

Sure Bill Gates picks your pocket, but Steve Jobs sticks the gun in your face and demands your wallet straight up. And Steve Jobs expects you to be grateful.

I have yet to find an operating system I like better than OS X, but Ubuntu is a close second. Apple makes incredible computer hardware, also.

As for mobile devices, it's Android all the way. I can do so much more with my Android phone than I ever could with my iPhone. Jobs would have to pull something pretty spectacular out of his kiester at this point to get me to switch back to an iPhone. I'm talking something utterly revolutionary, like teleportation powers, or unlimited free hookers.

I do not own a smart phone of any kind, but I jumped the Apple ship for the Ubuntu raft after drinking the apple flavored koolaid for 17 years.

I have never desired to go back to Apple. On rare occasions when I have to use a mac, I'm confounded by the experience.

I like my iphone. its the first version. i got it from a buddy for 100$. Works well for what I need. i dont have a contract but i like At&t and this phone works for 95 $ of what I need.
The only two things i wish it had is to text and receive pics ( I can only email) and to take video. i can only take pics. my old crappy flip popne could do video and pics/text. Not a huge problem. maybe Ill wait till one of my buddies ditches their 3g for a new one and Ill get theirs cheap. i aosl like my Ipod feature and that i can download a movie to my phone

My buddy has a android and it looks liek it does more than my iphone. I didnt get to mess with it too much but it looks very user friendly. Im not sure how you would make it link up to your laptop or if it even does that like the iphone.

Pretty much everything syncs over the air via your google account. There's really nothing to sync with your computer. Pics and videos are saved to a removable memory card in most cases.

I do believe that I never boarded the Apple ship at all. I was given a graduation present by my father, a brand new, iPod video 30 gig :D, so I never actually gave a cent to Apple myself. Plus, at the time (2005), I was blindly unaware of the Apple Fanboy Cult, and only wanted the iPod, for well, being an iPod, not caring whoever made it, as long as it was a genuine iPod.

Still never spent a cent to Apple, even when I lost my iPod USB cord. I simply borrowed my brother's, until he got a new iPod nano, in which he gave me his old USB cord. I almost bought a USB cord charger adapter for electrical outlets, but I thank God I didn't, so I can continue to brag about my 0% spending on Apple.

Oh, and for those that don't know, Bill Gates is the lesser evil than Steve Jobs.

My business literally could not exist without Final Cut - I'm stuck. I actually don't mind being stuck either. I wouldn't call myself a "fanboy" but I can only remember 1 time that OSX pissed me off - address book died when upgrading to snow leopard. It was ungodly frustrating. The reason the one problem stood out though, was because it was the only problem.

Yes, I could switch everything to Adobe Premiere - but when you have a workflow down.....changing it is almost unthinkable.

My iPhone though, pisses me off all the time. I am seriously considering going another route for a phone, but for computers and workstations, I don't think I could ever change.

Apple products are definitely the best for some things, like image and video editing. I just can't stand folks who loudly insist they are the best for everything.

Basically, as far as operating systems go, Windows is the best for playing games, Mac OS is the best for image/video editing, and GNU/Linux is the best for hacking. All of them, by the way, are equally useful for watching porn.

I used to build PC systems as a hobby and generally disliked anything apple. This was when they still made crappy computers with their own hardware. Many years later they switched to Intel chips with OSX. I bought a macbook pro last year and can honestly say that I can not go back to a "PC"(if you will). It's not so much about the speed or the ability to run games anymore for me. The interface is just SOOOO much better and refined than anything Windows could ever offer.

The iPhone won't do flash. Much of the best porn is only on flash.

Na, that's why there's Handbrake.

Takes me minutes to rip full DVDs and clips to my iPhone 3GS.

I like Apple stuff because I'm into photography, but I'm no fanboy. I know that PCs will always bend Apple over in gaming, mostly as you can barely touch a damned Apple product with anything aftermarket.

Apple commercials bug the hell out of me! I don't care of if my computer gets a virus now and then. I can throw it away in 6 months and buy a new one and I will still have a couple hundred bucks in pocket relative to buying and Apple. Apple buyers are suckers.

Can you really say this with a straight face? I for one find the GUI in OSX to be somewhat ugly, especially compared to Windows 7 or KDE. You at least have the option to change the default window border color in everything else, in OSX you're stuck with that ugly brushed metal look.

I had an iMac for two years, had to take it in for repairs 3 times. Each time I had to wait an hour or more in a stupid Apple store until somebody could tell me I'd have to leave it there for weeks to fix. I once drilled a whole in the motherboard of a Windows laptop and was able to just buy a new motherboard on ebay and fix it for under $100. For the premium you pay for a Mac it should never have any issues. I just bought a new PC that has way better specs than I could have gotten in a Mac at the same price.

Not really. There are dozens of iPhone specific porn sites out there these days. ;-)

And I had Android for a while. I think it's a cluttered joke of a half baked shareware project. I had more problems with it than I could shake a stick at. TWO YEARS after the original bug was filed and you still can't do something as simple as moving an IMAP email from one folder to another. Since it can't move the message, it will simply lose the email.

Looks like they might have finally bothered to fix it. They were too busy adding whiz-bang gee features first.
Then there's the way that the carriers are handling things. That's another mess entirely. Ugh.
I tossed it and bought an iPhone 3GS and haven't been happier. We have great AT&T coverage in this market, so that has never been an issue.

Been using both Windows & Mac OS (in addition to Solaris & Linux) for 15+ years. I have Windows on a Boot Camp partition for when I actually need it, but those moments have been rare.

Mac with problems sent in 3 times...That is a stretch...Imac G5 from 2004, Ibook G4 2005, MacBook 2x 2009 and 2010...No problems...That my friend is your handling of your laptop.

Now as far as PC laptops...In that same time frame I have had 3 Dells and 1 HP....All of them except had issues with Dell being the worst offender and HP being steady with no issues at all the exception of me cracking my screen.

If I could get a RFP approved by IT and VP to work on a MacBook I would do it as fast you can say...Apple is great, don't hate. I work for a tech company and we have 3/4 of our staff with almost equall amount of engineers using Iphones...I think you may need to revisit the whole jumping ship thing. We do have one rep and one AE using a droid and it is comical. The rest are just Crackberry.

ZX-10R, I too started with an Apple IIc, then the IIe. That's when I jumped the Apple ship. Little or no customer support from them at that time. (All the Apple stores were closing up about the time my IIe died and Apple's Lisa was the big guy, or should say, gal on the block).

Not a stretch at all. After 6 months the hard drive died, the next year the "Super-drive" went defective and wouldn't eject discs. When they didn't really do it right and it had to be replaced again. This was an intel Imac 2008ish.

So, off the Apple wagon I go and on to better things.

I started on the Apple bandwagon, but got over my fear of computers and bought a PC in 1995 after having realized how many more software titles there are for the PC.

I was always frustrated walking into Egghead (remember their B&M stores?) to find the entire store was PC, aside from the one rack in the corner.

Apple has a few more software choices, but most of the serious profession related programs are still PC or Linux. I've never regretted moving away from Apple. Their products were slick, but very overpriced. The company's current anti-consumer twist has left me more certain that I never want to return.

Ah early computing back in the day.

Heck I remember Gimbels (SP) (Mall store from past) store selling Osborn computers...Yeah I look young but I loved technology...I was pissed because I wanted the PC Jr...Remember IBM chicklet keyboard? I have had all sorts of MACs. It ended in 1993 when I got a 486 DX and I never turned back until I got my own family and back to Apple again. :D

Apple was cool back in the day when the Apple IIE came out. For those of you old enough to remember you know what I'm talking about. Yea I use to love playing Oregon Trail and Number Munchers on that green screen. Back then Apple was cool and it still is in some respects. However They lost their minds with the prices that they set. Example... Apple offers a Military discount and A Student discount. Both discounts knock off a $100 bucks off of the item you are purchasing when the value is over a set amount let's just say $600(notional).

Here's want I want to know. How do you rate a student and veteran the same discount?

Iphones/Ipods... eat me. I have never owned an iphone. I did on a few ipods but not one that I paid for. Had a few hand me downs or trades from people who just did'nt want a perfectly good ipod because a newer one came out.

Ipads really not a big fan because as soon as you buy something like that a newer cooler one comes out two months later. That's not really a strike agaisnt apple because all electronics do this nowadays to keep prices high on the newest gadget.

My wife owns a Iphone but she's ready to jump off the bandwagon after seeing my HTC Evo in effect.

Plus my phone bill is under $80 a month unlimited. When I add her to my plan it will be under $90 bucks for both of us unlimted

I won't give up their computers, or using my hackintosh. But I am getting away from the iphone. at&t down here in san diego is god awful. I drop probably 80% of my calls.
