View Full Version : Red dot and magnifier or carry handle scope?

Hey calgunners, help me with some pros and cons between these options. I'm thinking either red dot with 3x/5x flip to side/quick detach magnifier and BUIS vs. see through carry handle mount with a 1-4x variable power scope (Maybe even 3-9 if viable).

This will be for a 16" m4 in .223. I have the carry handle and mount already. I also have a gas block rail mount flip up front sight

This is mostly a plinker within 100 yards but I do a fair amount of longer range target shooting. This will also be an interim varmint/predator rifle. Of course it is a firearm so if shtf it is still be a part of my arsenal

I don't need specific equipment recommendations as I can use search for that.

Tell me about cheek weld, holding zero, quick target transitions, ease of use, comfortability, reliability etc. Any other pros and cons I should think about?

Thanks all!

If you have a carry handle setup, you won't be able to do a red dot + magnifier setup as they are made for A3/A4 (flattop) setups.

Detachable carry handle. Either or scenario
