If you have experience with the kimber custom 2 please post your pros and cons on it and an overall rating on the gun 1-10. I love the look and feel of it, the only thing I dont like about it is the break in period. So far ill give it an 8.

I had one and regret selling it. I give it a 10/10 because mine functioned flawlessly.

I have the tactical custom 2 and I give it a 10/10. I bought it brand new and put out 700 rounds so far and not one problem not even a jam. I never shot with the stock magazines though only chip mags

can't say about the custom II, but my friend has a stainless tle/rl II and i have a warrior II, i have about 400 rds through mine and no ftf, fte, or any problems when using good mags (factory kimber, springfield, wilson). i did have a couple of issues with surplus mags not feeding the first round properly or ejecting the first round and loading the second round. (that one puzzled me for a bit)

500 rounds through mine since I got it last month and it has been flawless except for a few first round failure to feeds due to new, tight mags. I knew cramming the 8th round it it was probaly going to be a problem.

the 500 rd break in doesn't really bother me too much, besides the cost of ammo. it just gives me an excuse to shoot more. :D

Had better luck with it then my tle iis actually but now that I own a Springfield mc operator and a Wilson protector I would suggest other options. After 600 rounds my custom ii was all in all a good gun Im just bitter I moved on to a tle that was junk (external extractor)

i heard external extractors are to be avoided at all costs

With high quality mags it is flawless. My one and only 1911 at this point:

My old Eclipse Custom II was awesome.

As in regards to the Custom II, it is a great entry level Kimber. You might want to consider the TLE as it has night sights and front strap checkering. Definitely worth the extra $250 IMHO.

As stated above, you want one with a internal extractor.

Excellent recommendation.

Ditch the factory Kimber mags for some good aftermarket mags and you have a winner.

I'm partial to Wilson 47D, but Chip McCormick, Novak, Tripp and a few others make excellent magazines.

are you selling any of those grips? I like the black grips in the middle and what mods do have? it looks like you changed the hammer

My Custom II has been flawless, it a commemorative so it doesn't get shot very much though. My Pro Carry II has 2500+ rounds through it without issues.

I haven't had any issues with the stock mags although I normally use 8 round KimPro Tac-mags.

Very, very accurate, both of them.

Great triggers.

Great ergonomics - for me.

Lovely to look at.

9/10 for the custom II, I have nothing to complain about but it can't be perfect...

As mentioned other models have different features so you can get what you want.

A note on the break-in. With both my Kimbers I field stripped and cleaned them first thing, then I hand cycled the slide a bunch, then cleaned an lubricated well. They worked without a hitch from the first round.

I haven't posted any pics of the commemorative in a while...

Anyone have links to the exact specific mags that you guys are using in your custom II's?

I havent got my Custom II out of dros yet so im not sure what I need yet. I think it uses a standard 7rnd mag if im not mistaken?

Theres so many to choose from so im not sure, I just want some good working aftermarket mags with decent floor plates that will fit flush when inserted..

Mine has had zero trouble with the 8 round Novak/ACT mags and the metalform with the orange plastic follower. The metalform with the split steel follower has given me a couple FTF on the first round (its super tight and the spring feels coil bound putting the 8th round in.)

beautiful..simply just beautiful. I want to do the same thing with my Springfield 1911 Milspec once its out of jail. I'm going to get it engraved with my unit name and OIF somehwere on it. I just gotta find someone who can engrave it. Who did yours?

I used to use these. Never a mag related issue with them.

Mine is a Kimber Commemorative, they built it as you see it, and Kimber does some great micro-engraving. The pictures that I posted were taken by my Kimber rep before it was shipped. I put the deal together for the group buy during my last deployment and couldn't be happier with it, Kimber is really supportive with these custom jobs for the Military. The coolest thing about it you can't even see in those photos; the serial number is customized too. For the series of guns we ordered the first 6 digits represent "I Company, 185th Aviation", then a dash and a two digit number within the series. While you can engrave any gun, having the serial number read as your Unit designation is something you can't do later, and I think it may be the coolest part about doing the Commemorative. It's number one of 34 in the series.
