Well the time has come to get a new TV. I'm not ashamed to say I know very little about them. My budget is around 600 bucks. What should I be looking for and do any of you have any recommendations?

This site was a ton of help when I was looking to buy a television several months ago: http://www.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/
There's a buying guide, FAQ, individual reviews of different televisions, and recommendations. You can also check prices from their site to kind of get an idea for how much each set costs.

Panasonic has a very good reputation among the TV repair techs I've worked with.
They never see them for service and when they do it's usually a cheap fix.
Must get a 1080p resolution!,save a few bucks by going 720p and you'll regret it later.I did.
Labor Day sale coming up, September 6th.
Absolutely DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY!, go to comsumerist.com and search bestbuy. Do use their prices to get a price match from a reputable retailer.
Amazon.com usually does free shipping and no sales tax. Save 9% and no delivery/setup charges.
