My lovely Saginaw 'SG' early model. She's complete. original, matching and in perfect condition. Don't ask me how I aquired her, it will make you cry.

Nice carbine. Looks like a sweet rifle.

I am up for a good cry. What's the story behind the rifle?

I am a few weeks away from inheriting my family's M1 carbine, it is an all matching Rock-ola! :D

I want to hear the story! Even if it is a tear jerker...the worst ones are when you save a bit of history from the melters...those are the worst :(

Ok, here goes - I did some work for a guy and we got to talking about guns because I knew he was a bird hunter. He said that he had some old guns that were his fathers, mostly rusty old shotguns, and asked me if I wanted any of them. I looked at them and said I'll take that one...and he gave it to me.

Yes, I am very fortunate to have found such a fine piece of history in excellent condition. But on a purely materialistic level it gets even better -

I took it to the local gun show to get an appraisal from the fellow who always has the huge table of Garands, M1 Carbines and 1903 Springfields for sale. He checked it out and said "You have a nice carbine there. It's worth around $2600.00"

That was a good day!
