I got an iPod from a friend of mine and I would like to pull some of the songs off it, but I understand that if I hook it up to my Mac it will wipe out the songs.

Help!?

Free trial for 30 days or 1000 songs. Works well.

The song's won't get wiped unless you click the sync button in iTunes. So all you have to do is load iTunes, disable the automatic sync option, connect iPod, enable disk mode then copy the media off it to your computer. This link has detailed instructions.
