I was watching this movie tonight, and of course had a good laugh at some of the outlandishly finished and customized guns in it. Lots of gold (TiN?) and custom engraving, pearl, and family crests. Let me ask my main question, and then I'll show pictures of some of the rediculous guns that I could find online. In one scene early on, immediately after the fight at the gas station (or as the fight continues?), one of the patriarchs is in his limo and reaches for *something* and says "give me my longsword!" I didn't recognise what kind of gun that "longsword" is, anybody recognise it? I haven't yet found a picture of it online, unfortunately. Here's what I did find...

For that matter, anybody ID any of the other guns, what the cops have, what the security guards at the party have, etc?

It's a Beretta. I haven't seen the movie in a while but most of the guns are Beretta's and 1911's.

Ya, most of the punk kids have 1911s and berettas (or off-brands). The one I couldn't tell was the one dad's "longsword" which, unfortunately, I don't have a picture to put in the post. O hey also I thought Berettas were double-stacked? The photo of the "dagger" certainly doesn't appear so with the gripless thing going on.

Somehow I ended up with a CD case for the soundtrack of this movie, and inside the CD notes, there is a picture of the "Longsword" gun. I've never watched the move, but the gun seems to be a Taurus with a longer custom slide. I believe the safety is frame mounted, not slide mounted, which is why I think it's a Taurus.

IMDB agrees with ya :-D

"The gun belonging to Benvolio is called "SWORD 9mm" and it is a 9mm taurus."

First pic is a Taurus
Not sure about the second
third pic is a Beretta
Can't tell on the forth pic
Fith looks like another Beretta

I loved that move! Ok maybe just the first 30 min with all the fighting:D . I would normally turn it off before all the kissy stuff came on. I so wanted to make a gun like in the first pic, hell I still do. I think it looks very cool. Functional? NO! Cool? HELLLLLL YEAH

If you're talking about a 92, Beretta did make a single-stack version. Just saw one last week, but the owner said they are out of production.

Dude its a Romeo and Juliet, of course its going to be out there and thick with the theatrics.

And yea pretty much all the guns are either 1911's berettas (some clone of either).

Second pic with romeo dragging someone is a beretta cheetah (i think).

From what I remember one side uses the 1911 more and the other the beretta style handguns.

All of Romeo's clan relied heavily on the 1911 I think.

Nah, I'm not looking for Benvolio's (Romeo's cousin) gun:

but rather Ted Montague's (Romeo's father) "longsword" which is only seen once, and briefly, in his limo. It certainly doesn't look like any Taurus 9mm I've ever seen. Once I finally get the dvd to play in the computer I'll get a screenshot of it.

There's Ted Montague, that's the guy with the longsword, that's the limo he's in when he goes to grab it, etc.

The handguns belonging to Benvolio (SWORD 9mm Series S), Mercutio (DAGGER 9mm) and Tybalt (RAPIER 9mm) are Taurus PT92 or PT99 9mm Parabellum pistols. The handguns used by Romeo, Sampson and Gregory (DAGGER .45s) are Colt M-1911 Combat Commander .45 caliber pistols. The other handguns used by Abra and Petruchio are Beretta 92FS 9mm Pistols. I've wanted to own one of those guns for myself... I remember seeing that movie was a young adolencent and loving those pearn grips w/ the sword & snake rapped around it with writings of "MONTIQUE" and "CAPULET"... anyways... your welcome... Kevin.

Looks like it, especially in that pic, but it's not.

I have no idea what the "Longsword" is, but I'd guess that since it never actually left it's limo mount and was never fired on film it's probably just a prop the gunsmiths that did the custom work on the other guns rigged up to look like something the patriarch would wield.

As a kid watching that movie I always wanted a "Dagger 9mm" with the clear grips & mag body.

The Dagger 9 looks interesting until you actually think about it.

There's no grip on the gun. It's not a clear grip, it's not there. If it was there you'd see it's outline, a reflection, or a shadow somewhere. Nope, nada. No grip.

Second, the clear magazine won't work. If the mag was acrylic the heat would melt the feed lips and you'd get all the rounds going "sproing!" when the slide cycled and jamming the slide. I won't say that you couldn't skeletonize a metal magazine to get a similar look but I wouldn't want to have MY hand wrapped around it when the slide opened the chamber to eject the spent round. Can we say HOT HOT HOT gasses ported directly onto the palm of your hand. Ouchies!

Speaking of the magazine, where's the follower and spring? Oops. Betcha it rattled when the actor shook it like one of those "rain sticks".

I know, I know... it's only a movie.

Thanks a lot. You ruined my day by forcing me to look at DeCraprio.

You know, they have actual CSIs to advise the directors of all the CSI shows. Why can't they have gun experts to advise movie directors? We've all seen the gaudy, "tricked out" guns, and guns without triggers, and guns shooting without magazines in them. They need some input. :gunsmilie:

They do. In movies, dramatic effect always beats accuracy.
