Well fellow Sac persons, our current Sheriff is a character to be sure, so I took time to write Bret Daniels, the person running against our incumbent.

Me: Mr. Daniels, What is your stance on the 2nd amendment of the US constitution. Also, what is your stance on the issuance of CCW permits to the citizens of Sacramento county.

Bret: I have long been on record as being a strong (and true) supporter of the 2nd Amendment and our citizens right to bear arms. If elected, my policy will be more consistent with a "Shall Issue" state as opposed to the current "No Issue (Unless you're a contributor)" policy. I truly believe that an armed society is a safer society.

Well, he looks like he has my vote now, though in all honesty, this could be nothing more than politico sleaze speak. Anyone have any proof of his long term stance on the 2nd?

You should REALLY ask Undersheriff John McGuiness. Keep in mind McGuiness has all the important endorsements such as the Sac County Deputies, AND he's got an immense track record as a hard working LEO. He is definitely the more likely candidate to win it.

I Know we all want "shall issue" in Ca, but remember if you are in Sacto the Dems are NEVER going to let that pass. Most LEO'S in the area will tell you I'd rather have a CWP civilian than a gangbanger on a traffic stop. However, Brett has about a ZERO chance of winning the election. Ask him why he was fired and it was not because uncle Louie (sheriff) did not like him...

John is the ONLY real choice, due to the fact he will not bow down to the other liberal dems in Sac and does not pull punches. If you are looking for a CWP it is more of a political hot potato for BOTH guys since they are in Sac county. Very unfair to all law abiding citizens, but that is Sac county. Until the area turns into a red state area and instead of a welfare handout city, we get what they give us.

I don't get that. What will he do that he won't "bow down to the libs?" What has he done so far that isn't "play the game?" He won't do anything for me but cash a check-- his check, and then go home to Rancho Murieta.

These forums blow me away sometimes-- many of you are already conditioned, you just don't know it.

In California victories are no longer won at the ballet box, it's a rigged game with gerrymandered districts and tyrannical liberals. I can't help but think every time I drive past a Starbucks, "take a good look, those are your oppressors!".

I remember this one self proclaimed socialist I had a brief conversation with at a sushi bar. She said, "we want to make it so everyone can enjoy the maximum amount of freedom!". And I said, "Then how come you keep taking away my lawfully possesed property and rights?". She was like, "huh?"

Yeah... if you ask me the real battles are won when we get just as clever as the grabbers. I count the off-list lowers as a tremendous victory for gun rights advocates in California. You can count on my purchasing further lowers during the second round after the first list is published. We're gonna make sure California has more AR-15 recievers per capita than any other state in the union LOL :D!

You know John as a friend or something? First off, CCW is state law already. The decision to issue is the Sheriff's alone. While doing research, it seems that John is more friendly to the notion of CCW that what we have now, but it also sounds like he wants a psychiatric eval for each person applying.

We have one candidate that says he is shall issue, and one that rambles on about not wanting to give OJ Simpson a CCW....

Starbucks is the oppressor, or the commies inside sipping their triple-decaf-nonfat-organic-friendlyfarmedcoffee-soy-foam-latte?

She's likely just one of the left's "useful idiots".

She probably doesn't realize that the ultimate goal of the policies and people she supports is the gas chamber and concentration camp.

That quote just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!! :D :D :D
