I just got my two spam cans of .30-06, I was not expecting the crate and thats how Fed Ex delivered it. Not in a card board box, just in the crate, which surprised me, kinda cool though. Well here are some pictures in case someone was wondering about ordering some. I'm very happy with the Purchase, I only opened one Spam can.

Gotta love 30-06 in enblac clips! Mine came in pretty much like yours. Good thing there is no longer a 10 can limit. Order away!

Kudos to CMP and Fed Ex for shipping it in that crate! Real military authentic look to it.

I ordered the loose rounds, I have plenty of clips, the spam can looks the same it just had 12 20 round cardboard boxes.

I ordered with the En Blocs because I only had 7 and I wanted more and I figured this would be my best bet. And I can use the Bandoleers.

Why is it that a lot of military ammo has that two-tone look to it?

My PPU 7.62x54R heavy ball and Russian 7.62x54R also have that look to them. Same for x39 ammo. What's up with that?

The case necks are heated with fire to soften them during the forming process. Commercial ammo is then polished to make it look pretty, military ammo, who cares how it looks.

would the difference of brass versus copper make a difference in the colors of the casings versus the FMJ bullets?

I did not know that and have wondering the same. Thanks. :)

Thanks for answering.

I really like how shiny bullets look fresh out of a box--but at the same time, "polishing" sounds like an excuse to raise the price. As long as the ammo does what it's supposed to do, I wouldn't give a rat's *** what the casing looked like.

What year is the batch from the OP photo?

Says 74 on the spam can and bullets. so I'm guessing 1974? Also says HXP. The other spam can that I did not open has a 50 on it. So from the 50's maybe?

Don't throw away the cardboard bullet covers! They need to stay in the bandoleers. ;)

Yeah I know lol. I plan on using them for reenacting, so I'm keeping them to protect it from the blanks. :)

BTW if you like pretty bullets, you can always run them through the tumbler before you reload.

You can buy it from the cmp. I was going to ask about reloading it. Guess that answers my question.

I usually have to go to the FedEx hub to pick up my crates of CMP ammo. I've received some funny looks in the past.
