i have been seeing online through google searches that some people are saying that it hard to find .380 acp ammo. i might be getting one and wanted to ask if anyone know if this is true or not? is it more expensive then 9mm rounds? any help would be appreciated....

It typicly is more expensive than 9mm, not real hard to find but online is basicly the only place you will find a decent price(example, basic UMC 9mm is around $13 for 50 rounds, .380 is $15-20 for 50 rounds). AB962 will really screw you with .380 if it goes into full effect.

where i'm at .380 isnt hard to find at any walmart, gun shop, and cabelas.price wise its more than 9mm and almost the same cost as .45acp.so looking at that kind of turned me away from buying a pistol that shot .380 in itself.

I did a quick look at Midway and they were backordered
Ammoman had 380 for 350 per 1000 and 9mm for 260 per 1000

380 not being a very good defensive round I would op for the 9mm

Yup. I don't normally look for .380's since I don't own one but things must be pretty dry because when I'm hunting for brass I see some cut down 9mm to .380 length. Dunno if this is common practice but it seems indicative of a shortage. Plus I get emails every once in a while proclaiming in big, bold letters that "WE HAVE .380!!"

as far as defense rounds go... i have found Remington .380 Golden Saber hp at Big 5 on numerous occasions; not cheap. Turners has had Winchester .380 hp recently at around $19.00 for a box of 20. the stuff has not been plentiful recently... but semi available over the counter out here in the San Gabriel Valley.

Big 5 has been carrying Remington Golden Saber in numerous handgun calibers for awhile now. i pick up a box of .45 ACP Golden Saber there every 2 weeks for SHTF hoarding. :)

my only .380 is a w german Sig P230SL so i keep about 500 rounds on hand at home. when .380 ammo supplies dry up it seems to bring the demand for the pistols that shoot the round... up even further; i don't quite understand the math on that one. or am i wrong? anywhoo....

i just checked with 2 local Big 5 stores in southern Calif..... i was told they haven't had .380 in the golden saber "for awhile." they do carry 9mm and .45 ACP iin the golden saber line. the La Puente store does have Remington Express .380 hp for $36.00/box of 50; one box in stock.

thought i'd mention this since i checked....

Yeah when I was back home in Phoenix buying my LCP and G17 Gen4.
I got .380 from Walmart, then I got back here and there's NONE. I buy my range's ammo at like $18 for a bag of 50 (.36 a round).
Bummed.
And walmart is the cheapest place I've seen at like .30 a round.
Litchfield Park, man you're wayyyy out there on the West Side. Nice houses though, and good deals on them.

Also, I have Hydra-shock .380 for defensive, and some steel case Tula crap, but nothing I can shoot at the range :/

No. Plenty of .380 out there. Just seek it out online. Still a favorite of some cops for their backups and old ladies with semi-autos.

I've been buying PMC .380 ball ammo from Scottsdale Gun Club periodically. They have been selling it for around $13/ 50rnds. Have not had a problem getting it at all.

It is harder to find outside of California because we can actually buy the cool 380 guns.
I don't actually think 380s are all that cool however.

If you think it's crazy to see .380 priced higher than 9mm...try paying $20 for 50 rounds of .25 in a WWB!

Those are them...I've got a Beretta 950 Jetfire (came in a deal with a matching 92fs inox) that I was going to start my wife with, but with the price of ammo so outrageous I decided to get her something a little more common...with a little more power behind it.

Maybe they price the ammo so high because they want to keep it out of those "little gangsters" hands?

I find .380 pretty easily in my area. If you are shooting at a range, you might call them in advance to see if they have it in stock.

The commercial reloading people tell me they can only die up for one or the other, .380 or 9mm. They prefer to stay died up for 9mm cause it is vastly more popular.

Carry licenses on the rise in the free states is what's been gobbling up the .380 ammo so much. Not so much because the round itself is the best, but the guns are nice and small. Dunno if the same phenomenon has happened with .38 or not.

I've found it for anywhere from $18.99 for 50 rounds of PMC (Mendocino) to $22.99 (Santa Barbara). That was the cheapest I found for any .380 ammo.
