I don't think the author tried to hide it. The newspaper is an AZ paper so it is geared for an audience that is local. Good read and thanks for sharing!

I'm not enthused about Arizona pictured as the wild west. Constitutional Carry will make it more peaceful then it is currently.

I picture the wild west as LA and Oakland. Criminals run wild as unarmed citizens are unable to enjoy their own homes while the police regulate town revenues and lay down yellow tape around victims.

Great read. I too hate the Wild West image they try to use. The funny thing is if you go back and read the crime stats of say 1880s-1890s, you will find per capita, the rate of Homicide is far greater in the larger cities like.... wait for it....

New York, Boston and Philadelphia... which HAD gun control :willy_nilly:

God bless Arizona... (hopefully a future citizen)

On July 29, a new concealed-carry weapons law took effect, granting Arizona residents the right to carry concealed weapons without a permit. Before the law was passed, Arizona residents were allowed to carry weapons as long as they were displayed in plain sight.

Only issue I think I see with the article is they keep inferring "Arizona residents", but from what I understand any person legal to own a firearm and over 21 can now "constitutional carry", you don't have to be a resident of Arizona.

you are correct. all legal firearm owners regardless of state of origin can carry loaded concealed in az,with the normal restrictions (gfsz, prohibited areas)

Well, I have heard some crazy stories about the 55+ communities after Viagra hit the mainstream. I guess Arizona did get more wild but not in the way I would ever want to see or imagine.

audiophil2 you have even more fun coming your way ,gov.brewer just announced a major company moving to surprise,az

here is her statement:
Governor Jan Brewer I'm very proud to announce that Spanish solar manufacturer - Rioglass Solar - is locating to the City of Surprise and creating jobs for Arizonans. Rioglass Solar adds to the significant progress Arizona is making to become a global leader in the renewable energy sector, and creating quality, stable jobs that will help advance and diversify our state's economy.

It's a double edged sword. The city is bringing in business which is always good but we will eventually lose our status as a top ten city for retirement. I've watched several businesses move in over the past 6 months in all new construction. I am actually glad the businesses are coming because families will have more voting power than retirees. I'm retired but only 36 so I have to vote for improving schools.
If it was 20 degrees cooler this city would be perfect.

I hope to see their crime rates fall and ours rise. Maybe then we will get some rights back-

I have been packin since the law took effect. Still getting used to it but it is a good feeling to know that I can protect myself and my family when there's a need. I still applied for the permit though, with the permit I can skip the background check when buying a firearm from a dealer. I took the CCW class last June but had to wait til August to submit my paperworks due to residency requirements for green card holders. Submitted my paperworks the 2nd of August and got my permit in 3 days! I love this place, now all I need is a job and it would be perfect!:43:
