On-Target down in Laguna Niguel is now equipped to withstand centerfire rifle shooting! they now have the granulated rubber stuff as their backstop, like that of Ironsights in Oceanside.
it was pretty odd actually. i went in, and while i did notice the new backstop, i didn't notice anyone else firing centerfire rifles immediately. what i did notice, though, was that my .357 magnum seemed quieter than usual. lo and behold, it was because someone was shooting .223 next to me, and later a 7.62x54r and .308. not very quiet at all when shooting those indoors.
granted, 25 yds doesn't seem like much for the rifles. but, it's definitely a well-needed place to practice, especially when heading off into the great outdoors gets tough at $3 a gallon.

They have that kinda of backstop at my range *evans* I belive its called a superstop or something like that. The backstop at Evans has actually take a .50 BMG round with no problems. Kinda fun shooting at the stuff. Watching the diffrent impacts from diffrent calibers make little puffs of the stuff jump up.

wow I was searching around for ranges in OC and i found this thread. Man I think people would give their first AND second born children for $3 / gallon of gas now a days.
I totally want to get an ak74 now and go blast some steel core at on target.

I called on shooting rifle caliber rounds there and they said you have to pay i think it was $20 or so and take a 1 hour instructional course(video), and then they take out to fire a few shots, and then they give you a card good for 2 years to shoot rifle caliber rounds there.

Why shoot centerfire rifle indoors? I don't see the point.

I guess after 2 years I forget how to shoot a rifle:) Kind of like how stupid it is that a HSC card expires after 5 years and the test has to be taken again.
