I was going through my ammo closet tonight to organize it, and lo and behold!, I found a stash of 9mm and 38 special. Don't you just love it when you find long "lost/forgotten" ammo? :D Anyone else have experiences like this?

Dude, you seriously have so much ammo that you forget you had certain calibers stocked?

Oh, I wish. My ammo stock is quite modest. It's just that I was organizing my .223 and 22lr ammo, and happened upon 9mm and 38 special ammo. I usually keep handgun ammo separate from long gun ammo, and that's why the surprise. It was a good feeling!

haha wow man I wish I knew that feeling. I wish I had a good feeling. I sometimes I think I have a certain amount of ammo to only find out I have less after I count it. I always forget that I just recently went to the range and blew some ammo.

I do it. I have ammo for weapons I don't have (yet). If it's a deal, I'll buy it. If I don't buy a weapon chamber for it at some point, I'll end up selling it.

It ends up in the back of the stash. I recently came across a case of wolf black box from the late 90's I forgot I had! It was like Christmas in summer!

I found a spam can of Greek .30 ball on clips the other day in the shed. I didn't remember having any loose cans left.

Way better then reaching into your pocket and finding a cartridge unexpectedly. I hate it went that happens.

Finding a box of ammo is one thing, but you found a gun you forgot you had? haha

Last week I decided I wanted to have an accurate count of my ammo inventory. I opened up a can of 9mm reloads that I hadn't touched in... well, forever. To make it easier to count, I started dropping them into old ammo trays (I save the plastic ones). Then I noticed that I'd managed to stupidly dump a box of factory loaded Winchester hollow points into my can of reloads.

When I was moving out of a house I had lived in for several years, I found an unopened crate (1100+) rounds of Chinese 7.62x39. That was nice.

I must admit that when I was younger I wasn't quite organized and when I was cleaning up an old mess I found three black powder pistols I forgot about. :43:

Found two, 100-round WWB value packs of .45 back in March. I stood there totally dumbfounded as they were in a very odd spot in my house that I had no recollection of using to store ammo.

Maybe my wife is a closet hoarder.

LOL I did that one time. Found about 1000 30-06 ammo in a crate. I had two crates. One held my snow chains for my truck. had them stacked and forgot all about it till I went to clean the garage. I bought the ammo about 16-18 years ago for 120$ per crate at B&B guns. I gave most of it to my dad since my 30-06 did not like the surplus ammo much. Worked great in my stepdads garand though

I moved a few months back and when packing up the "Arts and crafts" room I found a ton of stuff I had forgotten I owned and stuff I never remember getting.

It was like finding treasure.

You know what trumps all these ammo finds?
Finding high capacity mags. Legally.

...But coming back to reality and back on topic, for finding ammo, I once found 1 round of 9mm FMJ, 1 round of .45 ACP FMJ, 1 shotgun shell (12 gauge 00), and 15+ live rounds of .22 LR, as well as a boxful worth of .223, 30-06, .40, .45, and .30 carbine brass, all at my favorite range! That was an awesome day.

No the trump is finding 9mm in your truck when your deep into Mexico. Your absolutely thrilled that it wasn't found at the military check point on the way down. Even better you did a haz mat search on your truck and got rid of all the evidence before heading through the north bound check point. The military then goes through all of your coolers, tackle boxes, and suit cases and finds nothing, Wha hoo no prison time for me.

a couple of years ago, cleaning out the garage, I found a large ammo can I had since college 1989, it had 15 AK47 preban mags as well as +20 AR15 20 and 30 rd mags. Back then these go for $4-$5 per mag... nice.. Norinco and Colts ;)

I went to a garage sale that was selling everything from the house and garage (apparently it was the sellers parents who had passed away and they lived in another state). I remembered the elderly couple and knew the gentleman to be a hunter and NRA instructor (wore the hat every weekend) and I used to spend a couple minutes talking about guns and stuff every once in a while. So I went to check it out to see if his daughter was going to sell the firearms. When I go there I found out that the guns were all sold but I could "help myself" to anything in his garage. I looked around for a bit and I found a lot of decent stuff and was about to settle for a holster and some primers before finding a CACHE I mean a huge CACHE of 9mm (about 6k rounds) 45 ACP ( about 4k rds) 10 bricks of .22LR and M193 (about 10k rds). I told her to name her price and after a phone call to her husband (and seeing as how I was "friends" with her father) she let it all go to me for $500. Sweetest deal ever.

I spent about ten years in the Marine Corps deployed out of state; after buying my first M1 Garand I would order surplus 30-06 ammo whenever I could find it and send it home to my dad; he would throw it in my storage shed and forget about it. Years later, I came back to CA, bought a house and emptied my shed; and found lots and lots of suplus 30-06 ammo just waiting, ammo cans covered in dust, but bright, clean ammo.
