I just inherited a Charles Daly 12 gauge pump shotgun.

It says "Field MM 12ga - 3 1/2" on the right side, just in front of the chamber. The serial number is 1504**. I think this (http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=112315) is the same shotgun.

I don't know anything about it and I was wondering if someone could post the manual? Is it safe to fire shells smaller than 3.5in? What's a good starter shell?

Since KBI, the corporate parent that owned the Charles Daly name, went bankrupt recently all the parts and documentation links have gone dark. Someone here might have a PDF stored that they can share. The CD pumps were made by Akkar in Turkey, I don't find a factory page for manuals right off.

I did find this site... http://cid-0641f7d0582f0dbc.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/More%20Owner%C2%B4s%20Manual.. which has a number of manuals linked for a variety of CD firearms.

You can shoot shorter shells in the 3.5 inch chamber. Just be sure to give the chamber a good cleaning after you shoot shorter shells to clear out carbon that might keep longer shells from chambering properly.

I actually found the manual using Google cache. I have uploaded it so others can find it, hopefully Google will lead them to this post.

Charles Daly Field 12 gauge pump shotgun manual (http://d01.megashares.com/dl/9405e1c/CharlesDaly12gaugePumpManual.zip)

Is a small amount of side (rotating) barrel play normal? I can't pull it in or out of the receiver, I can just rotate it ever so slightly.

What types of chokes can I use on it? According to this page (http://www.choketube.com/guide.html), I can use Remington style chokes. Am I correct?

Also, what kind of choke wrench should I use? Remington?

All CD Field Hunter shotguns use standard Remington chokes. You can use any wrench compatible with Remington.
