About halfway down this article is a clip of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. It's the 2:57 minute video, not the 2:43 one.

Article from CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/04/25/zarqawi/index.html)

Sorry, Don't know how to link directly to the video.

He's shown firing a SAW (I think) and there is additional video showing him sitting with a few folks and behind him is an M4 with a M203 slung under. Is that a Specter Thermal Sight mounted on that thing?

Now what on earth is Zarqawi doing with a SAW?

Captured US gear.... They have killed a large amount of US troops, and although we say "no man left behind" it really means we leave them for a few hours, then come back for the bodies. In the meanwhile, the bastards get our weapons and ammo. That's war. In 2003 when I was there, they took alot of US gear in the Nasiriyah ambush. Throughout the conflict, we have suffered some substantial losses. The Marines lost an entire recon unit's worth of gear, to include 2 sniper systems and 2 SAWs.

On the flip-flop, we have recovered so much com-bloc Iraq gear that we are blowing it in place because there is noplace else to store it, and it costs too much to ship to the US.

(Note: by "we" I mean "us" or the United State's forces. I am retired, thank God)

i'm here right now they have alot of US gear. it gets left behind in blown up hummv's and all it may get dropped although you might notice a MG missing but it is war and there is nothing pretty about it.

It'd be fun to shove that saw up his terrorist butt and unload a few magazines of ammo.... :D

Thanks.

I figured that it was found on the battlefield or maybe "liberated" from a base in Iraq.

I'm sure that lots of stuff ends up on the black market, too.

It's the scope on the M4 that I'm most curious about....

I don't think that would smell good. Make sure you are wearing safety glasses at the least.

Most likely he took that stuff off of dead Americans.
A while back there was a report about 6 Marine snipers who were ambushed and killed. The insurgents released a video showing several M40 Sniper rifles.

What you also forget is their money is just as green as ours, even if it takes more of it. To someone in the business to make money on illegal sales, they won't care where it comes from, as long as it fills their bank account.

While I would assume most of it was liberated, I would not be surprised if some of their non-stereotypical gear was simply black marketed instead of picked up.
