Well last week I traded my SpringField Loaded 1911 for a NIB CZ97B. My 10 day started on friday and every second has been tough. I have spent the week doing a number of things getting ready for the new addition to the family:D .

I have loaded up 550 rounds of 45 ACP. Made a full length guide rod out of steal to replace the plastic nubby guide rod it comes with. Bought new mags, and all new Wolff springs for the gun. Also picked up a paddle holster for the days I need both hands. I have a Hogue wrap around grip for it too. I have researched up and down the trigger system of the CZ's so I know just where to start on my trigger job. I am also ready to reshape the feed ramp to feed HP ammo. Because the gun was made in Czech and HP are illegal there, the gun was only designed to feed FMJ rounds.

All of this will be done before one shot is fired through the gun. I think I like working on guns more then shooting them :D .

Also looking into target sights but that will come later.

To quote myself, "I'm Still going to be mad after 10 days!"

If I were you, I'd just sit on a lawn chair outside drinking beer for 5 days straight like the episode of the Simpsons about guns (not the halloween special)

You should print out those "All in favor of gun control, raise your right hand" Hitler salute paper targets though.

OH GOD that waiting period does suck. I hate it. When I bought my Glock 22, I kept thinking "Can I take it home today?" and then the sales guy closed up the case and said he was going to put it in the safe.

"Nooooooooooooooo!!!!" I thought. I said "ok, see you guys in 10 days." and left.

"You can pick it up on this date after this time here" said the clerk, pointing to the calendar and circling the time stamped on the receipt.

Gah. I hate waiting. As you can probably guess, I'm a real pain in the *** around Christmas. :P

I usually do a lot of shooting within that 10 days. Stock up on some ammo. I have even rented the same gun at a local range on the purchase day. I didn't want to wait 10 days to see what it was like.

51.5 hours for me. I hope so anyway. I bought a Mossberg 500 at SoCal Guns in La Mesa. I hope that licence thing doesn't affect them. I'm going to call them this morning and make sure.

During my ten day wait, I've bought a clay pidgeon thrower, AR stock from Mesa Tactical(for my Mossy), stocked up on various loads of 12 gage, put a new stock and scope on my mini 14, made some wood target stands, re-arranged my safe to make room for my new baby, and logged on to CGN every day while at work. I can't get anything done here at work during this ten day period other than drool all over my keyboard while looking at guns. My brother in law bought a Bushmaster AR and is in his ten day lock down too. We talk on the phone almost every day planning the first weekend we can take our new toys out to the range.

I always like to visit the store to check out the gun, whilr I'm there I take the instuction manual and read it cover to cover.
