I like how 9 out of 10 sixth graders say they can get access to a gun. I'd sure like to see that. I think they are just trying to be cool (It's cool to think you can get your hands on things that you can't really get your hands on). This is like saying 9 out of 10 of us can get our hands on rocket propelled grenades.

I'm pretty skeptical of that claim, too. And if it's true, I'd say we're selling out youth short. Seems they may have a lot better judgement about using guns than they get credit for if Boston only suffered 73 homocides last year, presumably very few by 6th graders.

I'll bet 9 out of 10 of those 6th graders who transfered in from other schools were dating high school cheerleaders "back at their old school".

I wish I knew some of these 9 out of 10 6th graders. I'd like them to find me some guns I've been looking for.

Know where to get a gun, "Yeah, Daddy's gun safe"
When I was in sixth grade I actually had access to about 5.
I was only allowed to touch them under fear of death from an attacker; or suffer the same consequences from my father.
Until he came home to take me and my .22 to the range.

Just something to think about....

"gun violence" geez. Didn't know guns were capable.

"Menino said he met recently with a sixth-grade class in Boston in which nine out of 10 pupils said they knew where they could find a gun." WOW. How is this bad? They could just say..."gunstore down the street"

"Some municipalities had used the information to sue gun makers and dealers." and the reason why that info should be withheld. How about going after the drug dealers and gang bangers THE REAL problem.

"and to develop technology to detect and trace illegal guns." Ughhhh yeah law enforcement can trace crime already with just the bullet and casing plus other clues the criminal leaves....we don't need serialization or that piece of crap Maryland ballistic law...wow worked great to get all those criminals...

I know I'm preaching to the crowd, but wtf believes this crap anyways? Idiots, morons, who?

It's just the same old crap used to get votes. It's just used to scare the soccer moms/NASCAR dads that they are going to do something about crime. They vilify the inanimate object and ignore the real problem because it wouldn't be "politically correct". It's all about political power.

I think it's about trying to find a scapegoat for the problem. We can't solve society's ills so let's blame guns. After guns are banned they will blame celery. Anything to take attention away from their own sex scandals.

Heh. Or perhaps they know they can get a gun.

"Just walk around downtown and talk to the first homeless person you see, if you slip them a $20 like on TV they'll tell you where the van with the machine guns is!"
