Not exactly what you think...

So I'm sipping some rum & coke and cleaning my pistol and everything's going good. Checked all the nooks and crannys and all cleaned and oiled so I do my operational test. Some dry firing and rack sliding and then oops. Hand slips during rack sliding and end up with a cut on finger and some bleeding under fingernails. Extremely painful, sobered me up instantly. No more cleaning guns while buzzed for me.

Great story, compelling and rich.

j/k. now just pour some rum on that cut to sterilize and you're good.

Sig P220. Maybe the blood sacrifice will appease the firearms gods and grant me a great day at the range.

Also, doubt pics of my bandaged up finger will appease your bloodthirsty appetite freonr22 and I have no plans to remove said bandages.

In other news, maybe the alcohol hasnt worn off as much as the initial pain since I still have some issue typing legibly.

Whew for a minute there I thought you were going to tell us you spilled your drink. Glad it worked out for you. You can cut your finger without drinking.

Nothing better than pulling on a beer while putting a few rounds down range while camping.

My Dad has a saying that "gunpowder and alcohol don't mix, and beside they taste terrible together."

You should switch to a good rum you provably have a cheap one.

You should really consider Bacardi Select (the dark stuff) in the future. Stay away from that spiced garbage, but if you absolutely have to, get some Sailor Jerry so you can still call yourself a man.

Great choice of drink though. If you'd said you were sipping on a Mojito or something, I wouldn't be surprised if the gun gods had required more blood from you as it would have been a potentially fatal insult.

It also helps if you wipe all the excess oil from the slide and wash your hands before racking it, too...

Blood will destroy the finish on most firearms. Clean up is real important.

Almost every cop I've ever met repeats the "alcohol and guns don't mix" mantra right up until the RV parks in the desert.

After WWII and Korea, and Cuba et al., my grandfather used to enjoy various Press Club machine gun festivities, usually while there was enough Scotch flowing to float the Missouri. Back when the press weren't afraid of guns, obviously

Sobbered up right away? That means not drunk enough. ..... Kinda like how drunks always survive the DUI crashes

That would have been tragic! Spilling a drink is a no-go.

Maybe, but gunpowder and cocaine? WOOoooooooo

Brown-brown is a form of powdered cocaine cut with smokeless gunpowder, or may refer to heroin.[1] It was reportedly given to child soldiers in West African armed conflicts.[2] Some have questioned the claim of widespread use among soldiers.[3]

Use of the drug was depicted by Nicolas Cage's character, Yuri Orlov, in the 2005 film Lord of War.[4]

wouldnt vodka help clean it better?

I allways keep a bottle of Stoli nearby when cleaning my M91/30, it just seems right.
