Does anyone know of any gun clubs in the Bay Area that allow either members or the public to bring their own targets, and/or engage in rapid fire?

Jackson Arms has an unofficial policy of letting someone to do double/triple taps.
Provided you've been there a few times and they determine you're not going to shoot out their roof or other customers.

Los Altos Rod & Gun Club allows rapid fire plinking with .22s. Yeah, that ain't much, but I'm not exactly gun savvy yet and I haven't frequented many ranges yet.

It is official policy that's listed in their rules flyer. I believe medium targets, you're allowed to do double/triple taps. Large targets rapid fire, but no head shots.
From memory so I'm not totally sure on this point, if you hit something you're not supposed to you get the boot after one warning.

I have taken my own targets to the San Leandro range. Many ranges will not allow characature targets (photos of actual people) and some won't allow human sillouette targets (chabot) so call first.

Go to Richmond and take the new shooter course for action pistol and shoot a couple of matches. Then every staurday you can some out and blast away as fast as you can pull the trigger and keep a full mag in the gun, practice your quick draw, plus they'll have stage set up so you can draw, run, shoot at stuff and do speedy reloads. The only targets you can shoot are the cardboard IPSC target on the 10 yard line and the steel poppers on the stage and possibly a plate rack. Some of us bring our AR's and shotguns and shoot the practice stage, how about that? running and shooting with your AR?

TMC, that sounds fun, but at this point I'm not particularly interested in shooting competitively. Can you just practice that sort of thing on your own, or do you have to do it as an organized run?
What I'm really looking for is a place where I could bring my own target stands & paper targets, or reactive targets, and set everything up on my own. I also like to fill up empty soda/soup cans or plastic soda bottles with water and shoot them. It's easy to clean up to, as they cans usually stay in one piece, or break into no more than 2 pieces.
I mostly enjoy off-range shooting, but there isn't anyplace close to the Bay Area to do that.

Target Masters in Milpitas allows me to do both, but I've been going there for several years and they know that I won't shoot faster than I can group and I take that responsibility seriously. I suggest shooting there a couple of times then asking the owner, when it isn't busy, if he can verify your skills to allow you to shoot that way.

For that sort of thing I think you'll need to find a large private piece of land outside the city limits where the owner will let you shoot and neighbors don't mind. A friend of mine has that kind of arrangement a few minutes from his house outside of Livermore and another guy I know has a friend who let hims shoot on his farm east of Rio Vista. I wish I had those sorts of friends.

Does anyone know of any gun clubs in the Bay Area that allow either members or the public to bring their own targets, and/or engage in rapid fire?
Reed's Indoor Range would let you double tap, rapid fire and use your holster after you take "AWT" class (Introduction to Combat Pistol)

Los Altos used to allow rapid fire on the 40yd tin can for any caliber. I remember doing full dumps of my 75rd drum on my AK... Due to people being stupid, only .22s are allowed to now.

I hope you're not talking about rattlesnake gulch... If you are, that's private property, and even though a lot of people go shooting there, you're not allowed to and will be told to leave by the owner or sheriff if caught.

Nope, Never heard of the place. This place is 100% legal to shoot and is behind a locked gate that a gun club runs. You just cant shoot 50 cal I believe. But thats no biggie.

Typically, if the staff there knows you by name, and has verified that you are a responsible shooter, ask for permission really nicely, then you can do things you consider safe.
So very true. Its all about gaining the rangemasters/workers respect and trust. Its the stupid people who hold their guns sideways and shoot up everything but the target that set the rules. Without those people there would be no need for such rules at the range. There are a few places I shoot at and they allow me to do double and tripple tap only because they know me very well and I shoot at the local matches. The best thing you can do for your social status is enter matches at that range if they have them. You get to know all the people and they get to know you. Its almost like you enter into a brotherhood of shooters:D . Sure you may have to give some blood and sacrifice a goat but its worth it in the end:p

Cow Mtn is BLM up by Ukiah.

Bullseye is a good indoor range that allows rapid fire. Just don't shoot up the lights and ruin it for all of us.

I am also allowed to do this.
They usually don't bug me either, but I've been told it's too fast when the range fills up and fast splits become contagious... One guy actually told me that "you IPSC types aren't welcome here"...

At Bullseye, we understand and subscribe to the “train as you fight...fight as you train” mentality. We know that most ranges will not allow you to double-tap or rapid fire, we do not explicitly prohibit this.
If we hear rapid fire or double taps, expect to see one of the staff standing behind you to observe your next firing iteration. If you are hitting your target and not our equipment/ceiling/etc., you most likely will be left alone to train properly.
We try to balance safety and the need to train properly.

from what i hear, the hayward PD's private range allows ANY target that wont fly back towards you and well... mag dumps are required sometimes...

Cow Mountain is on the verge of complete closure. The state removed the trash removal/janitorial service from its budget and once the place becomes unsanitary (within weeks probably) the gates to South Cow Mountain will be closed. If you like Cow Mountain please make sure to contact the BLM and Sacramento to let them know you want this park kept open. When you are there please make sure you take out more trash than you create.

Los Altos Rod & Gun Club allows rapid fire plinking with .22s.
Only on the 40 yard tin can range. They used to allow you to bring whatever you wanted to shoot as long as you cleaned it up, but now it's pretty much limited to cans and plastic bottles... you can fill them up with water, but that's about all you can do.

Yeah, stupid stuff like bump firing, and no muzzle control...
Cans and bottles are easier for "other" people to pick when the person who shot them decide to pack up and leave the range before the cease fire.

I like TM, unfortunately some of the patrons who go there, don't share your outlook.
The last time I was there, a guy was trying to impress his "homies" by blasting away at a target 4 yards away, with his shotgun. He then turned to brag how he hit the center and dropped the shotgun, with the barrel pointed up at this chest and face.
Earlier, there was a girl, who turned to hand over a handgun to her boyfriend and she pointed the barrel directly at his chest when she gave it to him.
