My son and I are going into the condor zone for some ground squirrel hunting and I need a recommendation on some green (non-lead) ammo in 5.56/.223 and 22LR. This is my first time in that area and i'd hate to get fined for having the wrong ammo. Thanks.

Federal makes great ammo and they are about $40.00 a box for 100 rounds at Wal-Mart!

$40? Is that correct? I'm paying $14 for 50 TNT Green .22 WMR. Is .22 LR that much more?

Did you guys even read this part? The Walmart bulk-packs are not lead-free.

from what I understand rimfire ammo doesnt have to be "green" I could be wrong but ususally isnt the case, jk

"Lead bullets for .22 rimfire or smaller
firearms are legal when sport hunting for small
game mammals but prohibited for nongame
animals in condor range under the current adopted
regulations.
Hunters can legally hunt jackrabbit,
cottontail, and tree squirrel using lead projectiles,
but not ground squirrels in the same area. Part
of the reasoning for this is that, unlike nongame
animals that are hunted and usually left in the field,
game species must be retrieved and not wasted. "
