Hey guys,

Just bought myself a SA 1911 mil spec operator (full rail). It was used but in immaculate condition. However, it only came with one mag and I am looking to get some replacements. Any ideas? I hear Wilson Combat are good but I am open to any opinions on price, reliability, etc being that this is my first 1911.

+1 on the McCormick mags. I like the way the 10rd mags balance in my full rail guns. The shooting star mags have always been good. Really cant go wrong w/Wilsion mags, but they are pricey.

the CMC mags have been great for me over the years, even the shooting star 8-rounders I got a few years back from CTD for something ridiculously low like 11 dollars a piece.

And Ed is right, the ten rounders balance great with railed guns, my GI has a Surefire MR07 rail adaptor and with a 10 round mag full it balances nicely.

+1 I run them through my SA Operator and nothing else. The only wilson combat mag I ever bought did not allow my slide to lock back the way its supposed to. I dont think its my gun, because its the only mag ive ever used that does that. over the 2 years that ive had my operator ive owned and ran several different make and model mags from WW2 7 rounders to dan wesson mags, to kimber mags. everything worked well exept that WC mag. It must be out of spec for it to not operate the slide lock mechanism in my gun. but, at the $32 I payed for it.... its just un-acceptable!!!! I have 5 8rd and 2 10rd Chip mags and have never had one problem. Just make sure to keep them clean and once you get them, you wont look back. I recommend getting atleast one 10rd mag. and the rest, get super 8's. they are awesome!

Metalform are good. Tripp Cobramags are excellent (I like them better than Wilson because the "skirt" is metal - on the Wilson it's plastic). Checkmate industries makes great mags at a great price.

The Wilson Combat 47D is a very good magazine I have never had any problems with them.
