ok i've got a question. i know about the conversion barrels for the glock but they will not convert to a larger caliber (for obvious reasons). my question is can i just change out the slide and barrel of my G17 to convert to a G22? anyone have any inputs? i've checked on glocktalk forums but can't find any info. thanks in advanced!

Yes. You can do that.
Remove Glock 17 upper (slide/barrel) and attach a Glock 22 (slide/barrel).
Use Glock 22 magazines when you have the Glock 22 upper attached.

The upper is a G-17 slide and inards but the frame is a 3 rd generation G-22 40 S&W Frame. From a G-17 upper to a G22 frame works fine.
But from a G-17 frame to a G-22 caliber upper will not work. The barrel locking block is different, the frame on the G22 has 2 pins for the locking block. G17 has 1 locking block pin.
Because of different pressures I would not do it.

Don't you love Glocks?
In addition, the only thing add to your G17 frame is a .40S&W trigger housing with extractor. You'll notice that when comparing the 9mm and .40S&W extractors, you see it bent a bit; don't get me started with the .45ACP extractors.
