I think HK made a bastardized version called the SL8. As for G36 semis, there really are not any in the US. However, you could always buy a SL8 and replace the parts to make it look like a G36. The only problem is that last I checked, both of these were SB-23 AWs.

I do not belive they (SL-8's) were named but it does have a thumb-thru stock, but if you were to dismantle it before you imported it into California I think you would be ok. After it's here I'd keep it that way (dismantled) till I found a way to put assemble it legally here in California...It's what I'm doing.

that was why I said SB-23 AW, and not named AW :D

The problem you'll have with it- if you pin the mag, it's near impossible to load- it has a small ejection port. May as well use a sled plate and make it a single shot.
You could plug the thumb hole and leave it functional- it would work that way, but you'd have to get someone to totally disassemble it out of state, and plug the hole before reassembly.
Last option- it IS gas operated, so you should be able to remove parts and disable the gas system somehow- then you could make it a straight-pull botl gun which looks liek a G36 (with a hard-to-reach cocking lever to boot).

That's the one thing that most people in Cali didn't think of when the SL8 and USC came out...

That's what I was betting on... I sold my SL8 to buy my USC and I'm glad... of course, here's my USC/UMP conversion that I patiently waited 6 years for someone to perfect:

That is SWEEEEEET!

Would you mind telling me, either here or via PM, how much that entire set-up cost, including the original gun, conversion, parts, etc?

Also, who did the conversion?

Thanks!

did it a while back....forgot the exact pricing...

the sl8 costed me about $1800...(yes, it was a bit high, but it was the going price b4 the ban)..
magwell conversion about $3xx. DIY or topnotch
Folding Stock...$3xx, DIY
HKG36C stock to replace stock, $90 DIY(just drill a hold and pop the pin out)
dye job about $60, DIY (hot water, dye)
shorten and thread barrel to k length, attached hider....$200? any barrel shop can do dis
2 short side rail mount...$80?
g36k grip...$60?

costed me about 2800 so far...
laser cost about 500, aimpoint M2 with mount about 550..

just don't have time now, i still need to remove the fake hider and put on the real deal..$1xx
also need to get a new C-rail.$130..(don;t like the g36/k rail with dual scope, which cost about 600)..

yup, check out top notch site....and maybe hk54 forum also...hope this help..
if you don't have the sl8 yet, i think you are out of luck..

With converted SL8s going close to 3K, I'd prefer a few like yours for the same price.

I bet the guys that have the HKs love 'em though :D I guess that's the beauty of this hobby: Something for everyone.
