Hello CG. I saw a 1911 with El Comandante (The Commander) engraved in the side of the slide. Is this a special model? Does anyone have info about this gun or was it a custom order one? Also can I get one in CA and where? I just think that it looked bad *** and want more info on it. Thanks.:cool2:

Lew Horton Special.

There was a whole series of these made in the early 90s.

El Teniente
El Jefe
El General
El Capitan
ad nauseum....;)

They were Colt pistols in .38 Super and very popular among the target demographic. IIRC, they sold for a little more than $1,000 at retail.

Try Google, you'll see some pretty neat examples.

The original BBQ gun....

Where did you see this?

There's a prototype that was done - 9mm, all steel, Commander size (4.25 inch barrel)...

Whole series of "EL" guns made by Colt. Beutiful finishand all in 38 Super. Real popular in the latin market. My uncle has "El Jefe" and an "El Cabo" as this was his rank in the Mexican army.

Got it. Thanks guys. I think it gonna be nearly impossible to find one. I saw one at the Reno gun show a few months ago but it was not for sale.:kest:
