I just got back from The Gun Room in Elk Grove (South Sac area) and they have a former range gun in good condition for $399.00. I fondled the pistol myself and it looks to be in good condition. It does need a new slide stop lever, but that runs about $5 or so. Besides, upgrade it to the beveled lever anyways.

Just helping out here.

Great price but not on a rental, gun has probably seen 10k on rounds. Honestly i wouldnt advise buying rentals just because of the abuse they endure and the ultra high round count, not worth it to save 200 bucks.

10k? For a Glock, that's like it's just been broken in.

$300 would be a good deal / aren't new ones under $500?

or am I looking at last year's prices?

I was just about to say, I'd take it for 300. I'm not really afraid of used Glocks but range guns could potentially have a lot more wear and tear issues.

No, but they're under $600.

How much is a Gen 4 worth if one were to pop up for sale?

Isn't guying a range rental gun, a bit like buying a retired taxi cab?

For $399, ex-PD pistols would be a more attractive buy.

Police trade ins are sometimes in outstanding condition for extremely low prices. I've seen some great deals out there.

I'm also looking for a cheap G19.

I see that someone posted LC Action, that is a current price, but you have to be LEO to get that deal.

I'm trying to find the best price somewhere in LA/OC/etc area, but they all end up about $540 (online) after transfer fee, dros, and shipping.

I'm convinced I can find a new one for $500 out the door somewhere!
Or a used one for a little under $400.

The only ones I've seen online are 2nd Gen G19s, Idk where to find them at brick and mortar stores.
I want a Gen 3 though.

I just threw it out there just because I saw it. I should have taken a photo of it, but did. If the G19 was totally trashed, I would tell you here. Didnt seem to be.

Oh well. River City Guns has some used Glocks as well. I only remember seeing a G22, 2nd generation there yesterday.

I mean in general. Sorry to sound like I had a lead on a Glock. I've known friends who have gotten Glock 21s and 22s for around $350 on police trade ins. Granted, this was two or three years ago.

Buds does have a S&W 4586 police trade in for $259. I have seen those new for $600-$700. So yeah, that seems to be a really good deal.

My local range's rental Glocks have at least 100k each just as one of those RO's told me :D . They've been really abused though :(

One time I brought my new unfired XD45 Tactical to see if they wanted to buy it. They offered me $260, it almost made me laugh, I walked away.

Way overpriced guns, that would be the very last gun shop in all of Sac area I would buy any gun from.

That sounds about right to me.
I think $350 is a fair price for a police trade-in. I think $500 (including tax) would be a fair price on a new one.
Everybody here charges MSRP though ($600?)

That's the LEO package. It's subsidized by Glock and not available for general public sale. Notice the 3 Standard Capacity Magazines included and the blurb at the end: "LAW ENFORCEMENT OR FFL DEALERS ONLY" ?

It's well known that dealer cost on the retail package Glocks start at $440 and go up with special models and options (GNS, etc).

That said, $399 for a rental Glock that appears to be in very good condition wouldn't scare me away at all. It MIGHT need a couple springs and a good cleaning and you'd be like new again. Plus, I don't think they can hit you up for tax on that used gun.

Thanks for the tip, I'd rather get a PD trade in. They are carried a bit and shot little. The range guns at TGR get abused a bit.

+1 on summit...easy to deal with, night sights and they'll send you the rebuild kits versus replace with 10 rounders if you want.

Mine was under 500... 494 to be exact!

There are a few places you can find them new for cheaper than that.

I wouldn't buy it for 400, 300 would be doable.

I'm shocked they didn't charge you for shipping. Last time I was in the shop they were tacking on shipping regardless if the handgun was in stock or not.

Did you go to LC Action in San Jose? They are the only GSSF dealer in the Bay Area. OTD price was $495 - G19, DROS and tax. It could be different now as this was the price this year.

Supposedly they're doing 399.99 Glocks in the month of August. though I think it only applies for LE.. lucky me :p I'll have to call just to make sure. 495 after it's all said and done sounds about right and is a killer deal.

If you have a MIL ID, Proof of enrollment in a basic police academy, full time or reserve peace officer, fire fighter, guard card w/ exposed permit or GSSF member you will qualify for the special pricing next month.

Did someone say 10K rounds? If a range is open 365 days a year and averaged 50 rounds a day, some days more, some days none, that's over 18K a year. (damn the asian in me) If that gun is 3 years old, it could possibly have close to 60K rounds through it, maybe more. Believe it or not, gun frames and barrels have a life span.

I don't know about that particular Glock, but The Gun Room EG has told me that they have had 60,000+ through some of their rental Glocks with minimal issues.

Your figures sound about right. That being said, a range rental Glock should go for a couple hundred at most.
