Bought a new rifle today from Empire Arms off their New Stuff List (if you do C&Rs you want to get signed up for this list as its contents usually all sell within a few hours and never get posted to their site).

Egyptian Hakim, 8mm, Semi-Auto battle Rifle:)

Any of you have one? How is it?

Here is an artcle on them.

Here are some pics of the one I bought (missing one of the front sight protectors...easily replaceable and not even necessary). Advantage of Empire Arms is you get something that someone competent has looked at...so it's a known quantity

EGYPTIAN "Hakim" semiautomatic rifle # 1782 (8x57) mfg. by Maadi in 1956. Near Excellent condition, 85% original bluing with a strong and bright bore. Wood has original finish with O in white paint on right side. Left side of front-sight hood broken off (Swedish AG42B front sight will fit perfectly).

Well, i have one coming soon, so i need the same answers:rolleyes:

Got it at turners from last month, waiting for the 30 day hold they put on consignment items. Hoping they will take my C&R and COE to avoid the 10 day wait. Will know in a couple of weeks.

Tony you bastard, I called Empire. You were the one that picked up their one and only Hakim. Thanks for the heart attack.

Congrats on a good rifle. Only advice. Watch your fingers. They have a nasty habit of closing the top cover on peoples fingers.

LOL, sorry 50. I rolled out of bed this morning half asleep...addiction brings me first to the computer...there was the Empire Arms list and there is was...called Dennis...he said if he can find a spare sight (he has some laying around somewhere) he'll send me it...of course the side protector isnt necessary for range use...

So, I bought...heh...yes it was 425...and I feel confident when I buy from Empire...Dennis looks stuff over and you know you're not getting junk.

Re: the thumb, thanks...I saw the pic in that article

Excellent choice. I think there's a fairly good-sized contingent of us Hakim owners kicking around here. Any time folks post about it, there's a lot of big, knowing grins.

By the way, not that I recommend doing so very often, but mag-dumps with that thing are amazingly good at staying on target with the design of that muzzle brake they've got on there. I had a guy next to me swear it was a machine gun last time I did so, and it was all on target at the 15 yard line...

I've got one. Picked it up with my C&R while on vac in AZ last summer. Great rifle. Mine is really accurate with the Yugo 70's 8mm ammo. I have the whole family of Ljungman actions.

Back to front:
Ljungman AG42b
Hakim
Rasheed

The Hakim's shells covers your right flank too.

I had a Hakim- it's a techincally neat gun (lots of gadgetry), but I foudn the back blast uncomfortable when shooting. I like my FN49 much better. The Hakim has an open-top direct gas system like the AR (ar's grand-daddy). If you have a big head, the gas blast will hit you in the forehead with each shot. The brake will also blow your buddies to kingdom come.

I still have my Rasheed, but haven't fired it yet. With the much weaker 7.62x39 it should be more pleasant to shoot.
The FN49 definitely recoils harder, but blasts you far less.

Hey Pthfndr,

Do you have a spare muzzle brake for the FN49 you're will to sell? Not looking for a collector, but a shooter.

PM me please.
