411?

A picture is not necessarily worth 1000 words if we don't know what it is... That is a very interesting photo though. Did the victim get shot with a .45 then again with a 12GA? Are you suggesting the two rounds collided in mid air and the 12GA pushed the .45 back into the guy that fired it? Was the 12GA shell loaded with a slug and a .45cal projectile? What am I looking at?

I was interested in the penetration of those Brenneke 3" "Black Magic" 600g slugs. So, while shooting with pistols at cans today, I took a dense oak log that was about 14" in diameter and shot it in the side @ 7 yards. The slug went right through. So I turned the log on its side, on top of a stump. Lengthwise, the log was 2' long. Shot it again, no exit hole, so I split the log with an axe to find the slug.

The slug entered, hit a FMJ .45 bullet about 10" in, pushed it aside, and continued another 6"s. Pretty decent penetration I would say. For reference, the FMJ .45 penetrates about 5" into this log @ 7 yards.

You thought it would be some crazy story of how I blocked a bullet from an assailant with my trusty 12-gauge, for ever ending the vs. debate.

how about I'd rather not find out and I'd prefer to live in an area where the answer to such a question did not matter in daily life. Maybe on weekends but not daily.

Interesting picture

So you drilled a log with a 45acp bit to the depth of about 5 inches.

Then with the predrilled 45 hole you redrilled it larger with the 12gauge bit to a depth of 16 inches
