Just wondering. I might this year. It's the year of the lever gun for me due to the cover I hunt and I really am into lever guns.
Either .30/30 or 35 rem.

What, no 300mag with a 14x scope

Both work great. Draws and a lever rifle...perfect deer combo.

No but I have a 10x40x50 US optics on the way for when I jump a buck at close range and I need to not find him in the scope. :p

Love the response. lol.

The .35rem is kinda a pumpkin slinger but in denser cover areas it's a dandy for bear or deer. 30-30 is more than enough for deer and plenty for bear. I'd advocate bullets on the heavy side for bear. Most of the places I hunt in california are pretty short shots and I see a helluva lot of people sporting .30cal high powered rifles with big scopes. Never ceases to amuse me.

Lately, I really like my M1 carbine with open sights for deer and .444marlin lever gun for bears. I've used .270, 30-06 and .308 and .243 in the past but never really needed all the extra range.

Great rifle, but last time I looked there was no factory loaded lead free bullets. I take mine to Oregon every year for deer season though. Inside 150 yards it is a VERY effective rifle.

I'm outside of the condor zone (thankfully).
