Hi All,

Quick question about gun ownership by out-of state military personnel.....

I have a friend who works with me on base at Fort Irwin. She is active U.S. Army, a reservist from El Paso, Texas, where she is a resident. She is interested in purchasing a firearm here in San Bernardino county and wanted to know if the same handgun rules apply to her as far as 10-round magazine size, 10 day waiting period, etc., or is there a military exemption? I'm sure this threads been introduced before, but don't recall.

Thanks.

same rules apply to her here in CA with regards to stuff like the Roster, large-cap mags, waiting period, etc.

She must have PCS orders to CA in order to be able to purchase in CA.

She does not have to have an Handgun Safety Certificate, her .mil ID is a valid exemption for that.

If she owns AWs out of state, she can get a .mil AW permit to bring them in while she is PCS'ed to CA. But she still can't bring in large-cap mags.
