I promised to post some pics of my recently acquired Glock 17 and just now got around to it. I was going to update my range report and put these pics in it but I can't find that post anywhere. Oh well. I am really impressed with this Tennifer stuff btw. Never seen a finish as tough as this.

When was that G17 made? I bought one in March (2009 manufacture) and mine has a notch cut out on the bottom front of the grip.

2010 if I looked up the serial number correctly.

Yeah, I wasn't aware that Glock stopped including the half moon notch for magazine extraction. Interesting.

mmmm Glock 17. I want!

There was an 17 RTF2 at Turners. But they wanted $599 + tax, and dros for ALL the glocks in the counter, no matter what color or model. Seemed over priced since I purchased a G30SF with factory night sights for over 50$ cheaper including dros and tax not too long ago.

Anyone know what gun shops in OC have glocks for reasonable price?

Is it possibly one of the new RTF models? I read on GlockTalk that the half moon notch was removed on the RTF frame and the fish gills were discontinuned.

They go on sale at Turners about once a month for $530 or so. Just keep an eye on their weekly ad. http://www.turners.com/engage/displayads.php

It probably is the RTF model.

I have a g17 and it is my bread and butter. I roll my own ammo and find it cheap to shoot and very accurate. My 17 has the OD finish and I really love it

How can I tell? I am a 1911 guy. This is my first Glock.

I see those half moons on G22's more often than G17's.

Yours is a standard gen. 3 frame, not an RTF2. The RTF2 has a special grip texture that is pretty aggressive and the serrations on the slide are in the shape of fish gills. For the gen. 4 Glock, they got rid of the fish gill serrations and went back to the straight up and down cut. The grip texture also changed again on the gen. 4 frame.

Great pick-up by the way. I loved my G17, mine was an RTF2. Had to sell it because I'm getting a G22.

Well, I own 2 SIGs (226+228) and two Glocks (17+19) and do not really think its fair to call the Glock a "poor woman's gun".

I love both Glock and SIG, but would call a Kahr, Hi Point or Sigma the poor person's weapon.

No problem. And for what it's worth, I prefer the standard gen 3 grip texture like the one you have. I had an RTF2 and put about 3k rounds through it and while it provided very positive grip because of the texture, there is just something about the gen 3 that makes it so I will reach for it more often.
