I am building an AR-10 using this Armalite upper (just ordered not in hand yet)

Can't afford to get expensive rails to replace the current handguards. What is the best type of attachment for a bi-pod. It does not appear to have a weaver rail on the bottom of the gas block; doesn't appear to have a standard swivel stud. Is a around the barrel mount good or should I attach some kind of rail to the bottom of the handguards. Other options?
