I'm going camping near Lake Isabella. Does anyone know of a good place to do some target shooting with my AR?

There is a small open range on Sequoia Forest property just a couple miles north of Kernville on Sierra Way / Kern River Hwy / SM99, just north of Riverkern. Turn east off the asphalt on a dirt road, just south of the entrance to the 'Headquarters' campgrounds. You should cross a cattle grate almost immediately.
Proceed another ~400yds up the road, you'll see the designated area on the left / north.
There's a neighborhood 400yds to your rear, while firing. Do NOT fire on the butte at your 1 o'clock, people climb on it.
And watch out for the whiny hippies who'll no doubt be camping on the other side of the road (also behind you). They are there for the creek and soaking pools in the gully behind you, and they are violating the Forestry Dept rules by camping there, so give'em a nice smile when they threaten to call the cops on you for shooting where you are legally supposed to.
