Are there such a thing as, run and gun rifle only matches?,,,,maybe a 2 gun match with rifle an pistol?,,,I would love to do some tacticle run and gun rifle only matches, just curious, i have never seen mentioned of any. I would like to do some matches with rifles only, some where i didnt have to pack a U-HAUL up with guns an gear an ammo. I could be happy with leaving the pistols and shotguns home once in awhile.
Where are you Located? N. Cali has 2 Gun matches at Chabot Gun Club (www.chabotgunclub.com). The next match is April 30th for Precision Rifle and Pistol, They also have PPC matches that you might be interested in. If you are in S. Cali you'll have to wait for others to chime in.

There is the Bay Area Rifle Championship on April 23rd in Richmond. The description is at www.richmondhotshots.com and I believe that there are further directions, and a link on the hotshots page. 7 stages and I think $40 match fee. Shots out to 200 yards.. Some hoser, some not so hoser is how I understand it will be.

West End Gun Club has 3-gun matches monthly. Go to their website for more information.
As far as rifle-only that is practical shooting as opposed to precision, I don't know of any. I don't think you'll really find a rifle-only IDPA/IPSC style match since there's no real format for it. 3-gun is the closest that comes to it that's an officially accepted match format.
I haven't tried 3-gun myself. I've had the guns to participate in it for a long time (Colt AR-15, Remington 870, 1911). Just never had the urge to try. One day I will.

I did find a group of guys who just shoot tacticle rifle, kinda like swat training, but its a private group. I did get an invite to come out and participate with them, but never recieved there website email,,,,,,,bummer. Thats ok, i know now where to find them, thats the kinda thing i was looking for.

I talked to the MD of the match in Richmond and apparently we're getting a few people from down south as well as a shooter or two down from Medford. I've knocked myself out of contention by spraining my left wrist. There is no way in heck I can shoot one now, but I'll be there helping out doing scoring and admin duties. Oh well.

NCPS is allowing you to shoot rifles as a second gun at the regular monthly USPSA matches out at Ione. Only difference is the start position and all the steel targets are removed.

IE here also.
As it was said earlier. West End Gun Club 3-gun match. July 28th is the next one. http://www.wegc.org/index.htm
I went this past Saturday to check it out. I had a previous family event that I had to go to around noon. So, I just went in the AM to watch to see how the stages were set. It had been a couple years since I did my last 3-gun match.
Some stages were pistol, shotgun, rifle only and yet a couple stages required a combo of firearms shotgun/pistol, etc..
My buddy and I should give the next one a try.

I used to take my rifle to my local IDPA match and talk to the match director. After shooting the match, if I would take down the stages when I was done they would leave them for me and a couple of us would reshoot them with rifles, It's a hoot but you really tear up the point blank targets.
