I want to purchase this revolver from someone who is selling their fathers gun. He passed away. THey live in a different county. Can I drive and get it and then take it to my local ffl and do the paper work or do they have to give it to a ffl there and then I have to get it? I only want to drive e there once. And I wanna be able to carry it on my ccw
You can't take posession (even for transportation) at ALL until after the fact. You can both go to an FFL near him, or one near you, or meet half way for all it matters.
If you wanna carry it for CCW, then don't mess it up with a silly violation because you want to save a trip.
It needs to be transfered through a CA FFL dealer.
You and them can meet at a CA FFL dealer and do a PPT.
If they ship it to a CA FFL dealer, then the handgun needs to be on or be exempt from the approved list. Also, because it was shipped, the CA FFL dealer can legally charge any amount to do the transfer.
