Finally upgraded to a BCM BCG and it came with a spare O ring as you all may already know. Its just a spare right? Meaning there's no significant advantages in using it on a carbine length gas system correct? I've read its most useful on a SBR and not needed for my setup. Please clarify :D

I would use it on a carbine gas system, but it is up to you. The middy`s for sure dont need it.

I'd put it in and if it runs with it, keep it in. If it doesn't take it out.

What exactly does it do? Compared to the stock O ring is it thicker or something?

A "stock" BCG does not have an O ring.

Here is a good discussion on M4carbine.net about this topic:

^^ That link actually confused me. Still doesn't answer my original question. Will I need it on a BCM BCG? Doesn't the BCM BCG already have one installed meaning the spare O ring is just that. A spare.

You don't need it unless you have extraction problems. Run the BCG as it is and see how it goes.
