I finally cleaned my new build after 1000 rounds. It is a BCM 14.5 upper, chrome lined, with a pinned and welded FS making it the legal length. I put it on a S&W lower with a CMMG lpk and LMT sopmod stock.
The upper is a lot more accurate than I am and had zero malfunctions.
There was little carbon build up for so many rounds, and I even ran it "dry" for about 400 rounds. I am really impressed with the BCM quality and reliability. Now for the next several thousand!!

what type of ammo do you use??

It was a mix of PMC and about 200 rounds of good old Wolf. Some Lake City but not too much. Pretty much whatever I had laying around.

carbine or mid-length setup you got there?

Thanks for the write up. What type of accuracy are you getting out of curiosity?

It has a carbine gas tube. And I get about 4 inch groups at 100 yards. 90 % of it is my fault! I am a pretty bad shot!

Don't blame yourself, it's probably the ammo. You'll be lucky to get 2-2.5MOA using anything but match/reloaded ammo out of BCM upper.

Was the rifle zeroed at 50 yrds? if so then 4" is not bad.

Really?

PMC and Wolf (standard) are not considered match ammunition so ~3MOA sounds about right. Were you expecting sub-MOA?

I've heard great things about BCM. I'm gad to see a fellow Calgunner actually proving it. Enjoy!

Yeah don't blame yourself. I shot some surplus ammo and they are around 3MOA+ at 100. When I shoot my handloads, I group easy 1MOA at 100.

I'm at about 500 rounds on my BCM 10.5 hammer forged pistol upper. I just cleaned it for the first time yesterday. I was struggleing to get it zeroed, and still don't have the EoTech quite dialed. With the iron sights it does about 5.5-6 inches at 100 yards. That might be because of the difficulty getting a good cheek weld with the pistol buffer.

I thought PMC would get around 2 or so.

I knew Wolf was that bad.

I haven't cleaned my first carbine....ever, going on close to 20 years. Other than running a boresnake, the BCG and FCG have not been touched. Lube and go, is all the attention it gets.

The carbon built up to a point, then stopped. I presume it has been flaking off.

All my other AR's get a standard GI cleaning after every 1000 rounds.

That is awesome Army!! I read about the loaner carbine on the M4 forum, I think they are close to 20k with no cleaning! I think it's either a BCM or Noveske upper.

I get sub 2 MOA 5 shot strings with PMC ammo in a Noveske N4 light.

I thought PMC would get around 2 or so.
