Looking for a good gunsmith in San Diego, tried a few and were not impressed, maybe someone knows a good one around town.

Gusslers does some gunsmithing in addition to FFL transfers. Shoot him an email to see if he can do whatever it is that you need done.

Also, there's a larger gentleman who works at CA Police Equipment on El Cajon Blvd that can work on M700s, Glocks, and ARs. If I remember, he specializes in Glocks, but again, call and see if he can do what you need.

Duncans in San Marcos (N. San Diego County) 760-727-0515. They have a long turn around time because they do so much work but it's worth it. It will be done right the first time.

Just sights?

I have a sight tool for the Glock. I wonder if it would work the same for the PX4...

I'm in Linda Vista if you want to give it a shot. I've done all my own glock sight's so I'm real familiar with the pusher tool.

That's Patrick (great guy). I'd check with him first (619) 280-1199.

Might try Doug Oliver - Ranger Dougs in Ramona 760-789-GUNS
Also does FFL transfers. Does good work, just a little on the slow side. Sights shouldn't require "taking to the shop" and could be done at the store. But the gun is fairly new and you need a pusher tool, don't want to be banging tritium viles arounds into place.

I don't know if the guy still works there or not, haven't seen him in at least 5 years if not longer, but Jim at American Shooting Center was okay. I think ASC has a team of gunsmiths now (or at least armorers). ASC can be pricey, though, and they're particular about what they'll accept for work (which is why I suspect they're more armorer than gunsmith now). Anyway, give 'em a call and see what they can do for you.

Is the Beretta PX4's front sight integral with the slide like the Beretta 92, or does it have a dovetail? If it's dovetailed, you can do it yourself (even I've installed night sights on both my Sigs, and if a not-good-with-his-hands clod like me can do it, anybody can!).

If it's an integral sight, though, then yeah... you need a 'smith to drill out the front sight for the tritium vial and install it. ASC doesn't do that, or at least they didn't back in '99 when I had Trijicons installed on my Beretta 96. They simply sent the slide directly to Trijicon for the work. [They told me this in advance, it's not like they were trying to be sneaky or anything.]

Best of luck!

Gunsmith's period are scarce in SD.

If you're an east county guy, there is a smith at Wholesale Guns on Mission Gorge Rd/Woodside, just east of Norht Magnolia. Never had any work done there, but I have heard he is okay. Name is Jim.

They are dovetailed, if a so called gunsmith can't change them than I wouldn't trust that guy to field strip a Glock.

I hear of a couple of decent guys from other people, but for the most part I send out all my work to other places out of state. I'm tired of being disappointed so I just use the big name places.

Fine Firearms in La Mesa has a couple good ones. Very reasonable rates too. They have always impressed me with their work.

Patrick at California Police Equipment for the win, he is there today (saturday) til 5pm for basic gunsmithing, sights ect.
Duncans in San Marcos for complex gunsmithing; like fitting a custom over under shotgun stock
CGW in Gardnerville Nevada for custom finishes and all things custom on black rifles. CGW did the great FDE finish on our rifles for SHOT last year.

Hiram's Guns in El Cajon at Washington and Magnolia can perform Gunsmithing as well.......his father ran the shop for many many years and both are personal friends.
