All,

I've been traveling and that has lead me to post this after the committee hearing, however, CGF submitted this letter (http://www.hoffmang.com/firearms/CGF-AB1934-Opposition-2010-06-21.pdf) in opposition to AB-1934. There is one mistake in the letter as we should have cited Texas v. Johnson instead of US v. O'Brien for symbolic speech. We were moving on somewhat restricted schedules to make sure our letter was in front of the Senate Public Safety Committee.

As CGF is a 501(c)3 that has taken the lobbying election we have to be limited and focused where we lobby so you will not see us oppose every bad gun law officially before its passed but we felt that this was something important to be on the record in opposition.

It's not you. It's now fixed. Uploading files from somewhere over Kansas isn't always reliable...

Thank you for that. This is a great letter which sets the stage for our further arguments against this bill!

Dear Lord, Gene. When you guys oppose something, you don't hold back do you. Even if I was in support of AB1934 on the Committee, seeing the names on the CC list (except Saldana's) would make me seriously wet my pants.

Good job!

Great letter. Well said. If every CA lawmaker read and understood that letter I think AB 1934 would fail. Now only if they would read and understand it :/

That's great! Thanks for sending that in. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Mrs. Saldaņa's office when she reads/read it.

2 words: Well. Done.

Too bad they probably won't listen to you. Time-and-time again, Anti gun politicians seem to inherently believe that their fears automatically over-ride our rights.

I'd love to see a compilation of total tax payer money wasted on the defense of asinine anti-gun legislation. I'd love to ask my local representatives why they felt that money was well spent being thrown away, especially in these tough economic times.

Great letter.

We need to keep up the pressure. Pressure from above (federal court cases), and pressure from below (grassroots political activism). Put the antis between a rock and a hard place.

Gene, a typo:

Now is a particularly poor time for the California to be passing new restrictions on the civil rights of firearms owners

The California?

Fixed.

I'm seriously impressed. Pointing out that the Saldana statements in support of her own bill have torpedoed any hope of it being constitutionally acceptable is a stroke of genius.

I'm not sure the right people will read and understand it - but at least someone in the Governor's office should pay attention - and that may be enough to kill it.
