I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on a california grip company located in victorville. I just bought some grips from them and I'm very pleased with them.
First off I have had a kimber custom for over 10 years and I have always had rubber grips on it. The reason is, I like grips that grab my hand so the doesn't move around while I'm shooting. I finally wanted something nicer so I started looking into wood magwell grips since I have a smith & alexander magwell. Smooth wood wasn't going to work so it would have to be checkered. While searching on the net I found since all magwells aren't contoured the same all magwell grips don't necessarily fit right. I then stumbled on the raasco website. They pretty much custom make you grips on cnc machines. Depending on what magwell you have on your gun they cut grips to fit that contour of you magwell. So I ordered a pair of dymondwood laminate non ambi checkered grips. It took about a week and a half to get them. I put them on and they fit perfect. It seems the checkering is a little smaller and less pronounced than on some other grips but man they just grab your hands. The texture reminds of grip tape which might be a bit much if you have "office hands" but I love it.
Anyway they are local and have a lot of choices and colors if you are interested. http://raascogrips.com/index.html Mark

Those should look great. I like the way they cut the grips larger for taurus 1911's since the frame is a little bigger. Mark

Raasco's makes good stuff. I like how you can choose the exact pair of wood grips you want. That's how I got this set of curly koas -
