Thought I'd share this about S.A.

My 1911, which I purchased from them in 1993, has had its first problem. The top screw in the adjustable rear sight came out and got lost during a recent pistol competition (I obviously should have been checking it and noticed it working its way loose).

When I contacted S.A. about buying a replacement screw, they told me that they would prefer to send me an rma tag and have me send them the slide, so that they can repair or replace the sight - since they aren't sure what model of sight was used on my gun. They are paying the shipping (both ways), and are not charging me for the repair.

While I will be without my 1911 for a few weeks, I can't complain, because this seems like customer service that goes well beyond the norm. It seems like firearms manufacturers have much better customer service policies than most industries.

Good to know. I'm thinking of buying a 1911. Thanks for this.

I had just traded for a 1911 A1 and wanted to know when it was built, I emailed them and with in 15 min. I had my answer, not bad at all.

I feel kind of silly about this, since it is probably a matter of a screw that costs less than a buck, but they (quite properly) want me to have the RIGHT part, so are taking care of it for me.

I had a problem once with a SA 1911. I called customer service and spoke with Penny. She emailed me a FedEx label and I shipped it the same day. The gun was back in my hands in under two weeks. I think it was eight business days.

Their customer service is why I went with their 9mm 1911 offering vs. Kimber. BTW, that thing is super fun to shoot!

Springfield Armory is one of America's finest companies.

I had a question about a custom 1911, so what does the service rep do? She puts Dave Williams, Director of the Springfield Custom Shop, on the line to answer my questions. Phenomenal company. What can say.

Slide came back today, with repaired (I don't think it was replaced) rear target sight.
Cost to me = $0.00 Customer satisfaction with SA = +1000.

They know they have to have great customer service because if not, gun owners will run to the competition and we will talk about it on forums for years to come.

Awesome. Springfield's customer service is one of the factors that went into my recent purchase of a TRP.
