I was lucky enough to find this at a gun store and I got the last one in stock. This is my first full size 1911 and I'm totally in love.

I would like to thank forum member alex45auto for polishing the feed ramp and the barrel, and spending the time with me on the proper disassembly and reassembly so I don't idiot mark my baby.

I have added a Surefire X400 to this because the rails looked lonely.

I only fired about 12 rounds today, this was my best group of 6 rounds at 20 feet.

Maybe it was 20 feet  it was at the 20 on the ground. I'm not sure if it's feet or yards, either way Springfield makes great MC Operators.

7 yards or 20 yards?

20 ft is just under 7 yards. If you shot that at 20 yards you'd probably outshoot most of Calguns.

Surefire makes wonderful, but high priced, lights. Nice addition to a beautiful firearm.

I love my 623LMG for the Mossberg 590A. Alas, the light costs more than the firearm-and is worth every penny.

Most likely 20 feet then.

Very nice!! Finally someone else with an X400 on their Operator. I need to get some pics of mine up. It's exactly like yours, except it has a black coated frame from the factory.

And again, VERY NICE!!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I plaining on getting a National Match 2-Piece Full Length Recoil Spring Guide Rod and a Wilson Combat Extended Magazine Release. Maybe a magwell too.

Hey Shawn great gun! I've been wanting one a nice 1911 too. If that's the Magnum Range then it's 20 feet. :-) I recognize that shot up ceiling anywhere :-P I used to go there all the time!

Once again, great find! Enjoy, shoot the crap out of it, swap the springs and do it again!

Awesome pick up. Personally, I'd pass on the full length guide rod and get one of these for your Surefire!

Guide rods:

No full-length guide rods. Period. They add nothing to function, make takedown more difficult, add useless weight, and reduce options for one handed cycling. For stock format guide rods, the stock Colt is the best, with the Ed Brown units being a very good choice for kit guns.

Those switches are pretty neat. I have one but ditched it as it didn't work well with the Crimson Trace grips I have.

My only concern with the DG switch is if the Pachmayr grip will get in the way. Thanks for the info on the full length guide rod.

I suspect it will be fine, the DG switch has some flex in it. But would be ideal to check fitment first if you can. If we shoot at the same places, I have a 1911 DG switch that you could test fit.

Instead of popping the slide stop in, it's slid on top of the frame before being pushed into the frame.

Marks on the frame that can happen if you botch the re-insertion of the slide stop lever.

Found this pic on the web, notice the arcing mark below the slide stop:

if one were to have this "idiot mark" how would one "touch up" this hurtful scar on a blued colt? :o
