I bought a muzzle break for my mosin at a gunshow for $15. Got home and it doesn't fit, one sized doesnt fit all. I'm not to worried about it, as it was only $15. I want to improve on the design and make my own at work. My question is, How long do you think a 7075 aircraft aluminum muzzle brake will hold its own for prototype testing? I will make a steel one eventually, but for testing purposes, would aluminum hold up long enough to test with, or will it pretty much be destroy after the first couple rounds?

Dude calm down its been a couple hours. Nobody here who knows anything thinks that what you are doing is illegal. Someone who knows about this stuff will chime in.

It will last long enough to figure out what you need to know.
Make sure you have at least 0.020" clearance over bullet diameter and that the brake is properly aligned and centered on the bore.
